Summer Substitute for the Digitalization Team in Elderly Care
The elderly care in Umeå municipality aims to be a resource that liberates and strengthens people's ability to live an independent life through closeness and interaction.
Do you like technology and people? Are you curious about how digital solutions can improve the daily lives of the elderly? Then this summer job is for you!
We are now looking for a summer substitute for our digitalization team within Umeå municipality's elderly care where technology meets care in a real way.
With us, you will work practically with installations in home environments, provide support to our residents, and be part of the digital transformation in welfare.
Digitalization for a Safe, Independent, and Sustainable Elderly Care
Within Umeå municipality's elderly care, a purposeful and exciting development work is underway where digital solutions play a central role. By integrating technology into everyday life, we strengthen safety, quality, and the opportunity for a more independent life.
Our digitalization team, consisting of business developers, coordinators, and IT technicians, works both strategically and practically to develop solutions that really work in everyday life. We believe in technology that creates real value for our citizens and employees, and in collaboration as a key to success.
With the strategy Digitalize, we meet future needs through a rapid digital transformation. We develop new working methods, leave outdated routines behind, and create conditions for a qualitative, safe, and more sustainable elderly care with a focus on individual independence and needs.
What Does the Role Entail?
As a summer substitute, you will have a varied and meaningful assignment. You will primarily work out in the homes of our elderly, where you install technology, provide user support, and create security around digital solutions.
Examples of Tasks:
- Install and adapt equipment (e.g., safety alarms, digital locks, welfare technology)
- Provide user support and guidance to staff and citizens
- Service, support, documentation, and administration
- Collaborate with IT, system management, and care staff
You will be an important link between technology and people, ensuring that the solutions work where they are needed most, in everyday life.
About You
This is a perfect opportunity for you with a strong interest in technology or another background where you combine technical understanding with a desire to help others. We are looking for someone who thrives in the meeting between technology and people. You have ongoing post-secondary education, perhaps in IT, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, nursing, social work, or relevant experience in the technology field as assessed by the employer.
But the most important thing for us is who you are as a person. We believe you are curious and solution-oriented. You have good experience working with computers and digital tools and are communicative. Since part of the work is practical, we prefer that you are comfortable handling simpler tools and technical equipment, for example, in connection with installations.
You enjoy helping others and easily understand people's different needs. You can explain technology in a simple, friendly, and pedagogical way, and are confident and attentive in meeting people in various life situations. You take responsibility, work independently when required, but also enjoy collaborating and being part of a team. And when something doesn't work as it should, you see it as an exciting challenge to solve.
Since you will often be out in the field, you need to have a B driver's license. Previous experience in care and support, IT support is meritorious, but the most important thing is your attitude, your commitment, and your desire to make a difference.
Other
The positions are summer substitutes, from 2026-06-01 to 2026-08-30. Training can take place by agreement.
