Community Development Administration

We create plans for the future of Simrishamn, manage the municipality's buildings, land, and harbors, make maps, grant building permits, plan the city's traffic, build streets, bridges, and pedestrian and bicycle paths, take care of parks and green areas, contribute to a good urban environment, deliver water and sewage services, clean facilities, prepare food, shovel snow, sweep streets, and much, much more!

Job Responsibilities

We are looking for someone who wants to work as a harbor host in Simrishamn's small boat harbor, with 250 permanent boat places and 60 guest places. Every year, we welcome about 6000 visiting boats, most of which come to us from June to August.

The work as a harbor host is varied, and no day is the same as another. You meet many different people and nationalities and work with a good hospitality; you are an important ambassador for the harbor, the city, the municipality, and all of Österlen.

You have an eye for what needs to be done and the will and ability to solve problems that arise. Your tasks include providing guests with information about Simrishamn and the small boat harbor, keeping clean and tidy in and around the facilities, and cleaning service buildings. You check that guest boats pay their fees and handle certain administrative tasks. Selling fuel and boat washing is also part of the role.

You enjoy working both independently and together with others. The tasks vary depending on how many guests we have in the harbor, so it is important that you are both self-motivated and responsible. You are part of a team that staffs the small boat harbor seven days a week from June to August. Working hours are from 08:00 to 17:00 on weekdays and 08:00 to 16:00 on weekends.

The positions are seasonal full-time employment from June to August. There is an opportunity to work occasional weekends during the pre- and post-season by agreement.

Qualifications

You who apply must be at least 18 years old at the start of employment and enjoy working with service and people. Since we have many international visitors, good language skills in Swedish and English are required. Knowledge of German is an advantage.

Good local knowledge of Simrishamn is a plus, and it is positive if you have boating experience and/or sailing skills to assist our guests in the best way.

As you are the face of the harbor, a pleasant demeanor and a high sense of service are crucial in the role of harbor host.
