Press Secretary at the Air Staff

Do you have experience working with media and press issues and want to work in a dynamic environment where you can make a difference for others? Now you have the chance to apply for a challenging and developing job as a press secretary at the Air Staff.

Main Responsibilities

The Air Staff leads the Air Force, and the role of press secretary involves press and communication work for the entire Air Force and the unit of the Air Staff where you are placed. You also support the Air Force's units in various press matters.

Your tasks include writing press releases, formulating messages and talking points, conducting media and environmental monitoring, media training for leaders, arranging press conferences, and building relationships with Swedish and international journalists and editorial offices.

You will be supervised by the Air Force's communications manager and will be part of a working group with a total of four communicators in the A10 section. You will participate in the section's overall communication work and support colleagues as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications

  • You have several years of academic or post-secondary education in journalism or media and communication science, or education/experience that we consider equivalent.
  • You have at least three years of relevant experience in press work in government, large companies, or organizations, or other communication work that we deem relevant.
  • You have excellent knowledge of Swedish and very good knowledge of English in both spoken and written form.
  • You have a B driver's license.

  • You are a loyal team player with good collaboration skills.
  • You are used to collaborating with new people and building contacts.
  • You are meticulous and have a high security awareness.
  • You must be able to handle periods of high workload and deadlines.

DESIRABLE

  • Knowledge of the Armed Forces' organization or experience of military work/exercises.
  • Experience in crisis communication or working in a news editorial office.
  • Experience in environmental monitoring.
  • Experience with publishing tools.

  • Employment type: Civil permanent position. The Armed Forces applies a six-month probationary period for those not employed by the authority.

The primary and largest task of the Air Staff is to support the Air Force Chief's leadership of all squadrons and schools in the Air Force at all levels of the conflict scale. The Air Staff develops, plans, implements, and evaluates orders and directives issued by the Air Force Chief. The Air Staff consists of approximately 350 employees. The Air Force organizes and trains air, base, and command units and is tasked with monitoring and protecting Sweden's airspace. This is a mission that continues around the clock, year-round, to ensure Sweden's integrity. Approximately 5,100 employees, both civilian and military, work within the Air Force.
