At the emergency department, we provide highly specialized emergency care, and we are one of Skåne University Hospital's (Sus) largest operations. We take care of 65,000 patients per year, making us one of Sweden's largest emergency departments. The department is the hospital's entry point, and this is where the majority of patients begin their stay. Here, you meet many people, which means the pace of work constantly varies, and no day is like the other. We are 200 employees who together are responsible for the first emergency care of severely ill and injured patients in medicine, infection, surgery, urology, and orthopedics. During on-call hours, we also have ear, nose, and throat services.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
In the role of nursing assistant with us, your workday will consist of common tasks within highly specialized emergency care. You will provide care for patients and work in a team with nurses and doctors. Your first time in the emergency department, you will work in our line-less teams to strengthen your clinical eye and get to know the routines of the emergency department. When we assess that you are ready, you will be introduced to the emergency room to receive priority 1 patients.
As you work in the emergency department, you will also receive training and competence to receive ear-nose-throat patients during on-call hours. As a nursing assistant in the emergency department, you also have the opportunity to take a cast introduction to gain competence to work with the orthopedic flow.
The standardized introduction time is five weeks but can be adjusted individually in consultation with the unit manager and supervisor. During the introduction, a number of theoretical trainings relevant to emergency care will be offered.
With us, there are good opportunities to be involved in developing the operations. We offer our staff regular training both internally and externally for competence enhancement purposes.
At the emergency department in Lund, we offer a schedule with quota agreements, which means there is an opportunity to reduce weekly working hours. You work 37 hours/week with combined day, evening, and night shifts as well as two weekends in five weeks.
QUALIFICATIONS
We welcome you who are a trained nursing assistant and meet the National Board of Health and Welfare's requirements for a protected professional title, regardless of whether you studied according to previous or current program structures. You have at least one year of work experience as a nursing assistant in hospital operations. Furthermore, you master the Swedish language in both spoken and written form.
It is advantageous for the position if you have:
- Specialization in emergency care/health care.
- Specialist training in emergency care.
- Work experience from emergency departments or emergency care.
- Experience with ear, nose, and throat patients.
- Knowledge of the systems Melior or PASiS.
