Do you want to contribute to the digital transformation of power grids and work at the forefront of Swedish electric power research? With us, you can influence a rapidly changing field and build strong relationships with industry and our research partners.

About us  High Voltage in the Measurement Technology department is a unit that conducts research, development, and TIC activities (Testing, Inspection, Calibration) in high voltage, high current, as well as electrical power, energy, and power quality in Borås where we have our laboratories. In addition, parts of the assignments are carried out on-site with our customers around the world or together with our research partners. The unit consists of two groups with a total of 25 employees - engineers, research and development engineers. The work is characterized by stability, collaboration, and a strong team spirit.

About the role  As a Senior researcher, you will have the opportunity to work with electrification related to the power grid with a greater focus on details rather than an overarching system level. Since we are experts in measurement technology related to high voltage, electrical power, and energy, this is our foundation but we apply it across a wide range. Everything from challenges with high voltage equipment, high voltage measurements, partial discharges, digitalization of the power grid such as digital substations, PMUs to power quality-related issues such as harmonic measurements, etc. Since we operate in a broad area within electric power, there are great opportunities to shape the role based on your skills and interests. We are in an expansive phase, and you will have the opportunity to combine research and development with contributions as an expert in other projects, where your expertise helps strengthen the whole.

The role involves close internal collaboration within RISE, where we promote cross-functional collaborations between different units, departments, and areas to develop strong and relevant research projects. Externally, we collaborate with manufacturing industry, power grid companies, as well as academia and other research institutes, and we are also active in standardization. An important part of your role is to be an active contact person, where you identify new research areas as well as customer needs and contribute to shaping relevant projects. You will have access to a strong network in the field and are also expected to expand and nurture this network in your role.

You report to the Group Manager and the location for the position is Borås with some possibility for remote work. The job involves a few travel days per year.

Please note that this position may require a security clearance, either later in this process or in the future.

Who are you?  You are a business-driven researcher with strong collaborative skills and good communication abilities. You thrive in the intersection of technology, research, and industry, and find it easy to build relationships and create trust. You are unpretentious, curious, and have the ability to combine research questions with industrial understanding.

Requirements

  • Several years of experience in the electric power field, measurement technology, power grids, high voltage, or laboratory work in a relevant area for the role.

  • PhD in the electric power field with a focus on electric power/high voltage

  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written

  • Driver's license B

Meritorious Work experience in any of the following areas:

  • Applicable AI/ML related to the power grid

  • Power quality

  • High voltage products e.g., cables

  • Experience in calibration in relevant areas

Are we right for each other?  At RISE, we value diversity and believe that different perspectives contribute to innovative solutions. In a dynamic environment, you will have the opportunity to develop both personally and professionally and make a real difference. Welcome to Sweden's research institute and innovation partner, where we strive for a sustainable future for all.

In RISE's recruitment processes, we do not ask for a cover letter. Instead, we ask you to answer a number of selection questions that help us better understand your skills and experience in relation to the advertised position. The application deadline is February 22, 2026. Start date by agreement.
