Assistant Nurse to the Eye Care Department

The Eye Care Department provides both acute and planned ophthalmic care with outpatient and surgical services as well as vision rehabilitation. We currently have around 50 employees working together in modern facilities on the hospital grounds in Gävle. Here, doctors, ophthalmic nurses, registered nurses, nursing assistants, optometrists, orthoptists, and medical secretaries collaborate to provide the best possible care for patients. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nursing assistant at our eye clinic, you will have a varied and stimulating job in a modern, technical environment where you will handle advanced equipment and instruments daily. You will work closely with several different professions in the clinic and contribute together with them to provide our patients with the best possible care.

Main Responsibilities:

  • prepare patients for scheduled doctor appointments
  • prepare patients in our injection flow
  • prepare patients in our acute flow
  • handle medical technical equipment and instruments
  • supervise examination rooms, operating rooms, and storage
  • assist the ophthalmic surgical nurse/operator before and during eye surgeries and injections.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is confident in their role as a nursing assistant and enjoys developing in their professional role. You take responsibility for your tasks and can plan and structure your work effectively. The role involves close collaboration with several different professional categories, which requires you to communicate well, be attentive, and solve challenges constructively.

To thrive with us, you need to be self-sufficient and willing to take initiative. You are proactive, ask questions when needed, and are open to trying new working methods. Your ability to make decisions and prioritize will quickly make you a reliable and valuable part of the team. You are flexible, adaptable to change, and handle both high tempo and varying conditions in a stable manner. During periods of high demand, you are willing to step in wherever needed and contribute to the smooth running of operations.

Furthermore, we see that you easily adapt to new technology, see opportunities in change, and are eager to take on new tasks. You take responsibility for your work and contribute to strengthening the team by continuously developing your skills and taking on greater responsibilities when the organization needs it.

To succeed in the role, it is required:

  • that you are a trained nursing assistant with a protected professional title
  • that you have an interest in technology and find it easy to learn new technology

It is also meritorious, but not a requirement if you:

  • have experience in outpatient work
  • have a few years of experience as a nursing assistant
  • have knowledge of surgical instruments and their handling
