Kriminalvården is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Kriminalvården provides some open health and medical care, which means that all prisons and detention centers have medical clinics where inmates can seek care. In addition to nurses, there are general practitioners and psychiatrists at the clinics. As a nurse, you will have your own clinic for assessing minor ailments, but you will also determine which applicants should see a doctor. This means that you will work with both somatic and psychiatric health care for inmates, assist during medical appointments, and administer medications primarily through dose dispensing. Documentation is done in the PMO patient data journal.

You will work alongside existing nurses within the operational area to learn routines and processes. Team collaboration is important and ongoing, where we support each other during absences or other needs. A close, open, and unpretentious collaboration with your immediate supervisor is crucial for driving healthcare within the organization forward together.

The Uppsala/Västerås operational area consists of Uppsala Detention Center, Åby Prison, and plans are underway to open another detention center with approximately 40 detention places, Ulleråker Detention Center. As a nurse, you will be part of the team and are expected to serve in all facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

You are quality-conscious and meticulous, and you have the ability to structure your approach and drive your processes forward independently.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Licensed nurse
• Ability to express yourself well in spoken and written Swedish

Meritorious:

• A relevant specialization or further education for the employer, such as in psychiatry, emergency care, or outpatient care
• Work experience in the profession
• Relevant language skills
• Driver's license (B)
