Our Operations

We are looking for someone who would enjoy working as a speech therapist at Akademiska sjukhuset!

Speech therapists at Akademiska Sjukhuset meet patients across many different areas and from the entire care chain, both in inpatient and outpatient care. The patient group has swallowing, communication, language, and/or speech difficulties to varying degrees and for various reasons, and assessment/treatment/aids testing is part of the job.

The current speech therapist position is located in a department with health professionals working in Neurology. Here you have colleagues from all health professions; physiotherapists, occupational therapists, dietitians, social workers, and of course, speech therapists. You will also become part of a skilled group of speech therapists who support and help each other in everyday life. You work independently as a speech therapist but also as part of a team with our other professions. We strive for care, security, and joy at work to permeate our everyday life both in patient meetings and among colleagues.

Your Mission

The placement of the position, as well as the introduction, will be adapted to your conditions. You will work in the neurologist's team as a speech therapist in the care of MNS patients. You will meet patients in day care/inpatient care but also on home visits/outpatient visits for aids follow-up. The position will also include outpatient and/or consulting speech therapy. As an outpatient speech therapist, you will meet patients in outpatient care, while as a consulting speech therapist, you will meet hospitalized patients throughout the hospital. If you have FUS competence, this will be beneficial in the operation!

We collaborate with the speech therapy program at Uppsala University, and speech therapy students have their clinical placements with us on an annual basis.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for a licensed speech therapist. We would prefer that you have experience in neuro speech therapy, but we also welcome you if you are newly graduated or new to the neuro field.

You believe that professional and pleasant interaction, perhaps with a touch of humor, is a valuable tool for creating good relationships with patients and colleagues. You are an engaged and positive colleague who wants to influence and develop the operation and who finds it easy to collaborate. We believe you thrive when the work pace is sometimes high and that you have the ability to work independently, prioritize, and create structure among your various tasks. Since Akademiska sjukhuset has a close collaboration with the university, we would like you to be interested in following, developing, and participating in the latest research.

Experience in instrumental assessment of swallowing and supervisory experience is meritorious.
