About the position

Interesting new development projects, extensive renovation projects, and entirely new technological leaps are taking place daily at BAE Systems Bofors. As a software developer, you will face exciting challenges – for example, how the very latest on the market can meet and integrate with 20-year-old technology. Such questions, and much more, you will face independently and together with your team in this position.

For the software section of the development department, BAE Systems Bofors is seeking several software developers. Here, you will work in a team consisting of software developers (within Application/GUI and OS), testers, Configuration Managers, and product security professionals, who with diverse backgrounds and experience create world-class technical solutions. In this area, there are opportunities to work with what you find most rewarding, as tasks can usually be adapted to your skills and development wishes.

Responsibilities

At BAE Systems Bofors, work is primarily project-based, and your work situation will therefore depend on which project you are working on and where in the project you are. The development teams work with most of the company's products, and right now it largely involves large projects around Archer, Tridon, Bofors 40 Mk4, and Combat Vehicle 90 - which are expected to last for several years to come.

The teams meet a couple of times a week to plan and distribute upcoming tasks and discuss difficult problems. Otherwise, you will often meet in the lab where you test code, new hardware, and conduct simulations. In this position, you will be involved all the way from customer requirements, development phase, testing in the lab and on the piece, sometimes even all the way to final tests on the shooting range.

You will, among other things:

• Primarily program in C/C++, but other languages may also occur depending on area/project.
• Develop unit tests and conduct integration tests.
• Work with interpretation and breakdown of requirements.
• Design new or modify existing software architecture.
• Contribute to establishing timelines and conducting time estimates.
• Ensure that adequate documentation is created.
• In some cases, participate in customer dialogues.

Qualifications

We believe you have a technical education from a university/college as a Computer or Electrical Engineer or similar relevant education. You combine this with several years of experience in software development with good knowledge of how to build architecture, create unit tests, work with IT security requirements, and the dependencies between system design and implementation.

We want you to have good knowledge of Swedish and the corporate language English in both spoken and written form, as this is used daily in the workplace. To succeed and achieve success in the position, you need to have good knowledge of the majority of the technical platform.

Technical platform:

• Linux (especially Redhat)
• Windows 10 and 11
• Virtual environments such as VMware but also container solutions
• C/C++ Version control in Subversion/Trac with ongoing work to transition to Git and DevOps
• Requirements management in DOORS (or equivalent requirements management tools)
• If you have knowledge of ADA, it is an advantage
• Scripting in Bash or Python when applicable
