Summer Job in System Development at SCB

Are you proactive and interested in society? Then we believe you will thrive with us. The Swedish Statistics Agency SCB is the country's largest and foremost source of knowledge in statistics. Our statistics are used everywhere, at the kitchen table, in news reporting, and by decision-makers in the parliament and government.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

At SCB, we handle large amounts of data daily with fast information flows and develop solutions to simplify and future-proof statistics. SCB's IT department is primarily located in Örebro with about 140 employees responsible for the IT systems that enable statistical production.

Are you studying system science or computer engineering and pursuing at least a 3-year academic degree while looking for a summer job? Then we believe SCB could be really interesting for you!

We are looking for someone who is creative and enjoys the opportunity to participate in exciting and educational development assignments together with like-minded individuals in a team. The goal is to develop usable solutions in our IT systems. The work is supported by experienced supervisors, and the tasks will vary and provide insight into several parts of SCB's operations.

This summer job is an opportunity to try working with system development within the IT operations at SCB. You will gain relevant work experience while we get to know each other for a potential future employment. We are looking for four students who want to join us this summer.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who:

  • is currently studying at a university leading to at least a 3-year degree in system science or computer engineering
  • has 1-2 semesters left until planned graduation
  • will continue your studies in the fall of 2026
  • has programming skills
  • has a good ability to express yourself in spoken and written Swedish

It is an advantage if you also have:

  • experience in programming, that is, beyond studies, e.g., participation in open-source projects, hackathons, private projects, etc.
  • work experience in an IT-related field, such as employment as a supervisor in an IT course or summer job in an IT department.

For this to be a good match for both you and us, you need to be meticulous and have a good ability to collaborate, but also enjoy working independently.

OTHER

This summer job is performed 100% in our premises at the IT department in Örebro, Åkullegatan 14.

You will receive a salary during the summer job, which runs from 2026-06-08 to 2026-07-19, and from 2026-08-03 to 2026-08-14. During this period, there will be a 2-week break from 2026-07-20 to 2026-08-02 (weeks 30-31) due to regular staff vacation.

We value the competence and potential of all employees. We believe in an inclusive culture where we benefit from our diversity and differences. You who apply share our values: courage to act, trust in each other's competence and goodwill, the initiative to turn words into action, and everyone's responsibility to contribute to the whole.

You apply by registering your CV in Swedish in our recruitment system, which you will access by clicking on Apply below.
