Trollhättan is Growing – Do You Want to Help Shape Our Future?
We are proud of Trollhättan's city with over 5,000 employees who make a positive difference in our residents' lives every day and contribute to the city's sustainability and vitality. We are driven and motivated by the guiding principles of Courage, Participation, Innovation, and Action. Here, there is exciting development where you can help make our city even better.
Trollhättan is in an expansive phase where the city's fantastic location by the river, rich outdoor life, and short commuting distance to Gothenburg and other locations in Västra Götaland are contributing factors to more and more people noticing our city.
To meet the demand for new detailed plans, the Community Planning Department now needs to expand with another new employee. Therefore, we are looking for you, as an experienced urban planner, who wants to help develop Trollhättan together with a creative, engaged, and forward-thinking planning office.
The municipality has a high level of ambition and is constantly evolving in the area of sustainable development. Tools such as social impact analysis, ecosystem service analysis, sustainability assessments, and design programs help us achieve high quality in our planning work.
We are fully engaged in projects that focus on efforts to reduce housing segregation, rural development, a new lock channel, and increased digitalization. A new central urban area that sets high standards for sustainability; Vårvik, with a new bridge over the Göta River, is being built as a result of years of planning work. Detailed plans for housing, services, and businesses are continuously being developed. We also work with strategic planning together with the Municipal Executive Office.
As an employee, you have good opportunities for professional development by participating in courses and lecture series. We also care about ensuring that every employee has good conditions for a sustainable professional life and have arranged training in stress management and group development. This has contributed to a stable, helpful, and secure workgroup where everyone contributes.
Job Responsibilities
In our working method, we place great emphasis on early stages where you, as an urban planner, work closely with other competencies, often in a project-leading role. We work in project groups unique to each project based on a structured project model we call the Community Planning Process. This method also means that we develop all detailed plans ourselves.
As many new planning projects are about to start, several of which are complex, we are looking for someone who has experience and competence to lead larger planning projects. You will participate in the realization of new urban and community development projects through the establishment of primarily detailed plans, but planning programs or assignments related to comprehensive planning may also be relevant.
As a project manager, you have a central role and good opportunities to influence the city's development towards a more sustainable and inclusive society. Dialogue with residents, property owners, developers, politicians, and employees is an important part of the work.
As a person, you are comfortable working independently and have an easy time collaborating. You are communicative and solution-focused in your interactions with various stakeholders. You are responsible and contribute to a positive atmosphere in the office and want to be a part of our team in the long term.
Qualifications
- Degree in urban planning, landscape architecture, architecture, or equivalent education
- At least 6 years of professional experience in detailed planning/urban development; more years are advantageous
- Experience in the role of project manager for complex planning projects
- Good knowledge of planning and visualization tools, such as Adobe, GIS, and other relevant programs. Interest and knowledge regarding the use of AI related to the professional role are seen as positive.
We place great importance on personal qualities and competencies that are beneficial for the role and complement our workgroup. We would also like you to have a driver's license.
