Consultant Surgeon/Specialist Physician at the Kalmar-Oskarshamn Surgical Clinic

We offer a position as a consultant surgeon/specialist physician at the Kalmar-Oskarshamn Surgical Clinic located in Oskarshamn.

In Oskarshamn, elective surgery is performed without expected ICU needs: gallbladder and hernia surgery, proctology, surgery for pilonidal sinus, abdominoplasty, and gastro- and colonoscopy. Your duties will include elective surgeries (where supervision of residents is an important part), endoscopic procedures, and general surgical outpatient care. Working hours are scheduled during office hours Monday to Friday with some on-call duties for inpatients. You will have an experienced consultant surgeon and a specialist physician as close colleagues in Oskarshamn.

About You

We are looking for someone with a Swedish medical license and specialist competence in surgery; we prefer candidates with experience and a broad surgical skill set. You can work independently and efficiently, have good collaboration skills, and a genuine interest in education. We place great importance on personal suitability.

Our Workplace

The Kalmar-Oskarshamn Surgical Clinic conducts a wide range of activities.

At Oskarshamn Hospital, there is a general surgical outpatient clinic and a surgical ward with ten beds, operating Monday to Friday. Elective surgery and endoscopic procedures are performed Monday to Friday. Approximately 200 people work at the Surgical Clinic, with about thirty in Oskarshamn. In Oskarshamn, there is a senior consultant surgeon and a specialist physician stationed, and the clinic's residents regularly travel to Oskarshamn for a week at a time to learn gallbladder and hernia surgery. Additionally, surgeons from Kalmar and urologists visit weekly for minor urological surgeries, proctology, laparoscopic hernia repairs, and RF treatment of varicose veins.

At the Kalmar County Hospital, the operations are divided into upper and lower abdominal surgery, vascular/trauma, breast, endocrine, urological surgery, and surgical emergency care.

Oskarshamn Hospital is one of three hospitals in Kalmar County and has over 400 employees. It is a small hospital with quick decision-making processes and close contacts between departments. Here, there is medical specialist care, radiology, planned surgery, and orthopedics. The hospital is located near the center of Oskarshamn and close to the archipelago.
