Social Worker at Järva District Administration

Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

Welcome to us

Järva District Administration is part of the City of Stockholm and is one of four districts participating in a pilot project for the transition to the new social services act.

The purpose of the pilot is to establish an easily accessible and coordinated entry point for all residents – regardless of age and needs, where they can quickly receive advice, guidance, needs orientation, and navigation. Support can be provided both as open support (services without needs assessment, IUB) and in-depth support (investigation with the possibility of needs-assessed services).

The Citizen Service Unit in Husby is now strengthening its operations and filling new positions. Three social workers will become part of the team working on the transition to a more accessible social service with a clear entry point for our residents, and we are looking for someone who wants to help drive this important change.

We offer you

  • Introduction program and good opportunities for professional development.
  • A workplace with a clear goal that residents should be met through a consolidated and accessible entry point.
  • A team-based working method, engaged colleagues, and close leadership.
  • Opportunity to influence and develop the operational methods and flows.
  • Benefits such as vacation exchange and wellness grants.

Please read more about the benefits of the City of Stockholm here.

Your role

As a social worker with a generalist assignment in Järva, you will work in a team that meets residents with varying needs - from advice, navigation, and early interventions to coordination and needs orientation. This is a new position, which means you will have the opportunity to influence the content and development of the assignment together with your colleagues.

Your tasks will include:

  • Receiving and establishing contact with individuals and families via our entry point.
  • Conducting eligibility assessments and initial needs mapping to navigate to the right support or intervention within social services.
  • Working in a team-based manner with colleagues with different competencies (adults, children & youth, addiction, substance abuse, domestic violence).
  • Informing about and guiding to services without needs assessment, such as family support, support through the Domestic Violence Center, and parental counseling.
  • Identifying cases that need to be transferred to social services' second line for more extensive interventions.
  • Collaborating with external actors such as police, healthcare, schools, civil society, and labor market actors.
  • Contributing to the development of working methods, digital accessibility, and an efficient flow between first and second line social services.

Your qualifications and experience

We are looking for someone who has:

  • A degree in social work.
  • Several years of relevant experience and knowledge in one or more of the following areas: addiction and domestic violence, elder care, social psychiatry, and disabilities.
  • Training in and experience working with the Motivational Interviewing (MI) method.
  • Good ability to express yourself in speech and writing in Swedish.

It is an advantage if you have previously worked within the City of Stockholm.

We are looking for someone who is curious, flexible, and engaged, and who wants to help develop new working methods within social services. You are persistent and have the ability to work both independently and in a team, where you contribute with your good collaboration skills and desire to achieve common goals. You easily build trusting relationships and are service-oriented in your interactions, both with colleagues and residents. In a sometimes challenging job, you have the ability to structure, prioritize, and maintain focus, while showing commitment and a genuine desire to make a difference for those we serve.

Your application

We are recruiting without a personal letter in this recruitment to strengthen the focus on the competencies and experiences required for this role. In the assessment of your application, we will only consider your CV and a number of questions you will need to answer when applying for the position. We ask that you respond concretely and succinctly to the questions, and that there is a clear connection between your answers and your CV.

The position will be filled subject to the necessary decisions being made. The City of Stockholm works with competency-based recruitment aimed at recognizing each person's competencies and thus counteracting discrimination.
