Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions.

We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.

The Social Administration of the City of Stockholm has an overarching and coordinating role for social services' individual and family care and the area of disabilities. Here, good conditions are created to meet residents in need of social services support. In close collaboration with the district administrations, we contribute to a modern, digital, legally secure, equal, and knowledge-based social service, and we have a strong focus on development. Within the administration, a wide range of support measures are offered to the city's residents, and the offerings change based on the needs of Stockholmers and the wishes of the district administrations. The work often takes place in close cooperation with other authorities, civil society, and the business community. The Social Administration is also responsible for the city's serving and tobacco licenses and conducts supervision.

Welcome to us

Skolfam is part of Support for foster homes and adoptive families, within the Social Administration.

Skolfam consists of 6 psychologists, 6 special educators, a unit manager, and an administrative assistant. The school initiative within foster care is a research-based, preventive working model aimed at creating better conditions for the schooling of children placed in foster homes.

The goal is to improve the opportunities for children placed in foster homes to have a positive future by focusing on the protective effect that school success provides.

We offer

You will be part of an engaged workgroup, and as support, you have external supervision with your group, great opportunities for professional development, and recurring follow-ups with your manager.

Your role

As a special educator in Skolfam, you work in a team together with a licensed psychologist and responsible social workers from different districts within the City of Stockholm. The teams collaborate with the children's primary schools and foster homes. The work involves travel to the children's placement municipalities and schools within the county. The special educator and psychologist initially conduct an assessment of the child's educational skills, cognitive resources, and mental health through tests and classroom observations. The team's combined assessment is then used as a basis to identify the child's strengths and any support needs. The development is then continuously followed up in collaboration with schools, foster homes, and children.

The work involves many travels to the children's placement municipalities and schools within the City of Stockholm and the county.

We place great importance on the following competencies:

Your approach is characterized by a salutogenic perspective, seeking strengths and resources in the child. You are a team player and have very good collaboration skills. You are happy to share your experiences with others in the group that can develop the operations. You also have a good ability to work independently, plan, organize, and prioritize effectively. You have the ability to communicate clearly, adapted to the recipient. You see the long-term significance and consequences of the work. The City of Stockholm works with competence-based recruitment aimed at considering each person's competence and thereby counteracting discrimination.
