We at Örnsköldsvik Municipality are looking for an engaged recreation consultant for a permanent position.

Job Responsibilities

As a recreation consultant, you are an important part of young people's everyday lives, both through leisure center activities and mobile youth activities. You meet young people where they are - at the leisure center, in public spaces, and through mobile outreach activities.

The role is flexible, independent, and developmental, with great opportunities to influence the content of your work. Working hours are varied and may sometimes change; the position includes about 2-3 evenings a week, and there may be occasional weekend work.

In this role, you will:

  • Build trusting relationships with young people and be a supportive adult.
  • Work independently with significant responsibility for planning, implementation, and follow-up of your work, but also collaboratively with your colleagues.
  • Take initiative and contribute new ideas and methods together with colleagues and other partners.
  • Plan, implement, and lead activities, events, and projects together with young people.
  • Encourage youth engagement and participation and support them in realizing their own ideas.
  • Actively contribute to the development of mobile leisure activities and see opportunities in the role of mobile recreation leader and leisure leader in open activities.
  • Be responsible or, in collaboration with colleagues and partners, drive projects within the operation from idea to implementation.
  • Collaborate with other operations, authorities, and actors, especially in crime prevention and mental health.
  • Be responsible for projects within the operation.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone with training as a recreation leader, social pedagogue, or equivalent education deemed comparable by the employer.

Experience working with youth or youth activities is an advantage, as well as having worked with a norm-conscious and inclusive approach.

As a person, you are self-assured, have a genuine interest in youth leisure, and a strong understanding of people's diverse backgrounds and circumstances. You are creative with the ability to create engagement among young people and support their participation and influence.

You are a problem solver and a good team player who can also take responsibility and work independently with good collaboration skills and a structured work style.

Being multilingual is an advantage, as we work with a diverse target group.

A valid driver's license (category B) is required.

Upon potential employment, a police record extract must be presented to the employer. Selection and interviews may occur on an ongoing basis, so do not wait to apply.

Attach your CV and cover letter with your application.
