Today, we are about 160 people distributed across eight units.

The responsibility for wastewater operations is shared by two units that work closely together. Together, they are responsible for the operational management and maintenance of the wastewater pipe network and associated facilities within the city of Gothenburg.

Job Responsibilities

The main area of responsibility and tasks for the wastewater pump unit is preventive and corrective maintenance of pumps/pump stations and wastewater facilities to ensure safe operation of the system. We currently consist of a team of 15 wonderful colleagues who share the various tasks that the position entails.

As an operations engineer, you will work on different projects and investigations as well as continuous improvements within the department. You will be responsible for the department's documentation system and, together with the unit manager, establish control documents and routines, as well as support operations in their daily work. In collaboration with our maintenance engineer, you will work on improvements and development of the maintenance of our pump stations and follow up on key performance indicators and operational results. We work together to develop and optimize our operations.

We are now looking for someone who wants to take on the role of operations engineer, where you, together with your colleagues, will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and operational management of pump stations and parts of the wastewater pipe network.

Job Description

As an operations engineer with us, you will work with a team of driven colleagues and primarily focus on providing operational and administrative support to the unit manager and field staff regarding daily operations, administration, planning, follow-up, evaluation, contacts, etc.

Ongoing follow-up of the unit's activities regarding technical key performance indicators such as wastewater stoppages, emergency diversion from wastewater pump stations. Conduct and be responsible for deviation reporting, including contacts with supervisory authorities. Be able to develop and establish new routines (e.g., work routines and operational instructions) that may involve a new way of working.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has completed a multi-year technical college or university education with a focus on the water and wastewater area, e.g., civil engineering in road and water construction, where knowledge in the water and wastewater area is highly valued. The employer can also assess equivalent work experience as comparable.

You also have:

A valid driver's license (B)
Computer proficiency is required as we work with a digital operation and maintenance system as well as a digital utility map.
Proficiency in Swedish, both spoken and written.

It is advantageous if you have:

Experience working in water and wastewater and/or systematic maintenance as well as work in an operational organization and public administrations
Education in water and wastewater
Worked with the water bank
Experience in ongoing maintenance of water and wastewater

To succeed in this role, you work in a structured manner and plan, organize, and prioritize your work effectively, with the goal of delivering on time and following up on results. You drive the assignment independently, make your own decisions, and take initiatives without being dependent on others' support. Your analytical ability allows you to quickly identify the core of problems, see connections, and propose well-thought-out solutions. At the same time, you have a strong holistic view and understand how your work both affects and is affected by the organization as a whole. By incorporating different perspectives, you further develop ideas and create value.

You are goal- and results-oriented, motivated by clear objectives, and translate them into concrete actions. When circumstances change, you quickly re-prioritize to achieve the best possible results. In addition, you are creative and collaborative; you enjoy working in a group as well as independently.

The position is security classified and requires a successful security clearance. A valid driver's license (B) is also a requirement for the position.
