Snäckan is looking for a Kitchen Manager!

About the position

The Kitchen Manager is responsible for organizing, planning, and managing household tasks at Snäckan. This includes managing resources such as finances and time to achieve desired goals within the organization, as well as being responsible for cleaning, cooking, and ongoing maintenance. The role also involves contributing to a positive atmosphere in the workplace and ensuring that employees feel comfortable and well at work.

We are looking for someone who truly enjoys cooking and taking care of a large kitchen. You should have the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and quickly solve challenges. You should be open, honest, and have a curious approach. You should be able to pitch in extra when needed and take responsibility for your own recovery and rest. We also welcome a humble attitude and a willingness to collaborate and ask for help when needed.

Responsibilities include:

Cooking:

• Prepare nutritious meals primarily using Gotlandic and Swedish ingredients.
• Ensure careful and efficient handling of leftovers and their use.

Cleaning:

• Maintain good order and hygiene in all kitchen areas, especially during cooking.
• Ensure effective and thorough cleaning as well as other tasks related to the facility as a whole.

Purchasing:

• Ensure efficient purchasing of household goods based on planned activities.
• Prioritize the purchase of Swedish (preferably Gotlandic) ingredients, balancing against the budget.
• Ensure the purchase of both effective and environmentally friendly cleaning agents.

Maintenance:

• Ensure that the kitchen and dining room are in good condition and that any problems are addressed promptly.
• Ongoing communication with the caretaker at Snäckan to ensure maintenance and continuous improvements of the facility.

Organization & Planning

• Plan and prioritize your own tasks effectively and delegate tasks to other staff.
• Ensure structure and order by organizing and maintaining cleanliness.
• For group bookings, confirm meal arrangements at least 4 weeks before arrival and maintain ongoing contact to ensure that requests are met.

Service & Reception

• Contribute to a welcoming, open, and warm atmosphere for guests and colleagues.
• Build good relationships with colleagues.
• Address any ambiguities and issues with the manager as soon as they arise.

Formal Requirements

• Knowledge of and experience in operating large kitchens.
• Experience in the entire chain of cooking, from menu planning to serving nutritious and delicious food.
• Knowledge of and experience in food hygiene.
• Basic computer skills to manage administrative tasks such as orders.

About Snäckan

Snäckan has a peaceful and beautiful location on Gotland's west coast, just over 30 km south of Visby, on the outskirts of Klintehamn. We have a total of 84 beds distributed among 10 six-bed cabins, 3 camping cabins, and 4 rooms. In addition, we have a gathering place, conference room, and café/dining room with a modern kitchen. We also offer camping sites for caravans and tents as well as parking spaces. At Snäckan, there is also a café, kiosk, football and beach volleyball courts, disc golf, playground, mini-golf course, proximity to swimming, and opportunities for beautiful nature experiences. During the pre- and post-season, we receive groups with full and half board. Snäckan is owned and operated by the congregations within Equmeniakyrkan in Gotland.
