We are looking for a positive and driven nursing assistant with an interest in surgical care who wants a stimulating and varied job.

At our Surgical Ward 39, we care for patients with cancer or other diseases of the entire gastrointestinal tract, including liver, bile ducts, and endocrine diseases. Many of our patients come scheduled for planned surgeries, but we also have emergency admissions and care after trauma.

We offer a five-week introduction with a personal mentor and an introduction program on the ward where we focus on surgical nursing.

The surgical area has a close collaboration between the three hospitals in the region. The area has a regional mandate for emergency and planned surgical care, and we also provide some highly specialized care for out-of-region patients. Here, there are 350 employees within different units such as outpatient clinics, wards, surgery, and secretariat. Planned healthcare is increasingly located in Karlskoga and Lindesberg, and similarly, tumor and trauma activities are located in Örebro. Within the area, there is active development work with a focus on the patient throughout the care process.

Örebro University Hospital (USÖ) is one of the three emergency hospitals in the region where we provide advanced healthcare, research, and education. Both in 2020 and 2019, USÖ received the prestigious award for Best University Hospital from the newspaper Dagens Medicin. USÖ won the most significant category for medical quality, had the best results in the categories of accessibility, economy, as well as in the category of avoiding pressure ulcers and overcrowding. USÖ also tops the results in the areas of heart, kidney failure, and vascular surgery. USÖ has about 3,500 employees. The tasks are varied from acute care, nursing to observation of surgical patients. Our work also involves contributing to postoperative recovery for our operated patients. As a nursing assistant with us, many practical moments are included in the work, such as inserting urinary catheters, taking venous samples, wound care of surgical wounds, stoma care, managing drains and flushing them, taking NEWS controls, and more. Contact with relatives and collaboration with other professionals is also an important part of the work.
