Description

The Marketing and Communication department nurtures and develops all brands of the destination and the company, providing service before, during, and after the visit.

Satisfied visitors are the best ambassadors.

We are now looking for new colleagues who are interested in working scheduled hours during June-August 2026 and also working extra during the fall/winter in the Visitor Service unit.

Responsibilities

As a tourist information officer, you will sell and inform visitors about the offerings of the destination Gothenburg, including dining, accommodation, and activities. This will take place either through the tourist office's shop or via our contact center at Kungsportsplatsen. It may also involve meeting tourists and visitors outdoors at cruise ship arrivals or larger conferences. The interaction with customers occurs through various channels, and the goal is always to assist them with their inquiries and actively work to encourage them to choose Gothenburg, enjoy the destination's offerings, and perhaps extend their stay.

Some positions may also involve distributing brochures within Greater Gothenburg using a small van.

Qualifications

To be considered for the position, you have studied or are studying a relevant post-secondary education in sales/service/tourism or equivalent. You have excellent knowledge of Gothenburg and Västra Götaland specifically, as well as Sweden in general. You have previous experience working in service, sales, or tourism.

It is important that you have very good knowledge of Swedish and English, as well as good knowledge of an additional language, such as German, Spanish, or French. You have good computer skills (Office). If you have previously worked in a tourist office or contact center, that is a plus, as is experience with social media/web. Additionally, experience with booking systems and cash handling is advantageous.

To succeed in this role, you need to have strong communication skills, adapting your communication to the recipient, target group, and situation. You are eager to help others and make an effort to listen and meet your customer's expectations. Furthermore, you easily adapt to new circumstances and take responsibility for completing your tasks with the best interests of the organization and visitors in mind.

For the position that involves distributing brochures by car in Gothenburg, a B driver's license and driving experience are also required (an additional language beyond Swedish and English is advantageous for this position).

Conditions

The work as a tourist information officer is a temporary position where you are paid per hour worked. Salary and conditions according to the applicable agreement. You will work scheduled hours during June-August 2026 and work extra, as needed, during the fall. The application deadline is 2026-02-15.
