Operations Technician for Wastewater Production Unit

In Trelleborg, we work together for a growing successful community where life is good. Our 61 villages and 21 districts are creative meeting places that bubble with life. Here we want to do things, tell about them, and come just as we are. This means we welcome others in the same generous and curious way.

Welcome to take your place on the journey!

Technical Service Administration

The Technical Service Administration is Trelleborg Municipality's enabling administration. We are a safe, secure, and value-creating resource that works proactively, efficiently, and sustainably together with those who live, work, and spend time in Trelleborg Municipality. The administration's five departments have overall responsibility in various areas to plan, manage, and develop the public space. We do this, for example, by taking care of the municipality's public places, waste management, wastewater management, water supply, and infrastructure. We also deliver internal services such as operation and maintenance of municipal facilities, cleaning, system management, and IT support.

The Workplace

Circular Flow and Water is a department within the Technical Service Administration in Trelleborg Municipality. We are 65 employees who work together to ensure that waste management and the municipality's water and wastewater operations function so that our subscribers receive good drinking water and that wastewater is treated before it reaches our recipients.

In the wastewater production unit, we work with the operation and maintenance of treatment plants and pumping stations. Our workplaces are the wastewater treatment plants in Smygehamn and Trelleborg, as well as our 61 pumping stations in Söderslätt. Those of us who work here are operations technicians, process engineers, environmental engineers, project managers, team leaders, and unit managers.

We are now looking for an operations technician for our wastewater production unit, where you will be part of a team with strong community.

Job Responsibilities

Your job responsibilities include operating and monitoring wastewater treatment plants and pumping stations to ensure operational reliability within the framework of applicable permits, laws, and other requirements. Furthermore, you will troubleshoot and conduct sampling and report according to established procedures. You will be part of a smaller workgroup but also work independently where you make your own decisions. In your role as an operations technician, you will have scheduled on-call duties where you alone, during active duty, respond to alarms and acute operational disturbances. You will participate in both planned and preventive maintenance within your area as an operations technician.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has at least a high school education with a technical or scientific focus. Post-secondary education in the water and wastewater area is an advantage. It is also an advantage for the position of operations technician if you have work experience in water and wastewater, alternatively in industry or workshop.

A B driver's license for a manual transmission vehicle is a requirement for this position.

It is important in the role of operations technician that you have the ability to work independently and make your own decisions. Equally important is your ability to work in a team. To deliver based on the wastewater production unit's assignments and goals, your ability to collaborate is essential. Our expectation is that you are a colleague who shares your knowledge and at the same time absorbs your colleagues' knowledge, seeing this as part of your own and the organization's competence development. Since events occur in the wastewater production unit that require us to adjust our work and change our priorities, it is important that you have the ability to be flexible with a solution-oriented approach.

For the position of operations technician, you need to have good knowledge of the Swedish language, both spoken and written, as you will communicate and document in your work and, for safety reasons, follow procedures and instructions.

As everything Trelleborg Municipality does is based on our values of openness, respect, and responsibility, it is important and crucial that these values feel as self-evident to you as they are to us in our work.

Now we are curious about you with a great interest in further developing within the area of wastewater production and look forward to receiving your application!

This is for a more inclusive recruitment process and an efficient candidate experience for you applying for a job with us. Your answers will be an important part of our selection work.

In preparation for the recruitment work, Trelleborg Municipality has carefully considered recruitment channels and marketing. We therefore firmly request no contact with media sellers, recruitment sites, and similar.
