The Department of Individual and Family Care works with various forms of support and services for residents. The department is divided into four areas: Promotion and Prevention, Children and Youth, Adults, and Providers within Social Psychiatry and Disabilities. Within the Children and Youth area, the units include reception for children and youth, the unit for children, and the unit for youth and family care.

The Foster Care Unit consists of a unit manager and nine employees, of which seven work within foster care, one is responsible for contact activities, and one works flexibly across both operations.

In the group, there is a shared sense of responsibility and a strong commitment to ensuring that the foster care children receive good care, tailored to their needs and circumstances. To achieve this, collaboration with foster homes, the child's network, etc., is a vital part of the work.

Your role

As a Foster Care Secretary in Farsta, you will work in some cases as the child's designated social worker. In this role, you are responsible for following up on the care of the placed child through continuous meetings with the child and contact with the biological parents. You will also make assessments regarding visitation and identify needs for other relevant interventions. You ensure that placed children have their needs and rights met.

In other cases, you will be responsible for the foster home. In this role, you will continuously collaborate with the foster home and provide support and guidance. You will also be responsible for issues related to compensation and agreements with foster homes.

Another task that occurs within foster care is recruiting and assessing foster homes. For this task, you must have completed/are undergoing appropriate training.

The work involves travel, primarily within the Stockholm area but also travel within the country.

Your competence and experience

We are looking for someone with a degree in social work and experience in one of the social services' operational areas.

You have a good ability to plan and structure your work. You can express yourself well in speech and writing, as ongoing case management and documentation are part of the job.

As a person, you need to be secure, stable, and resilient. You should be meticulous and have a good ability to structure and plan your work independently and in collaboration with your colleague for each assignment. Since the work sometimes involves meeting people in crisis or with complex life situations, it is important that you can see opportunities, convey hope, and meet people respectfully. You also need to be able to build good relationships with children, youth, and their families, as well as all the parties you collaborate with.

Experience in public authority work within social services/foster care is an advantage. (You may be a social worker in children and youth who feels the desire to take a step further in your professional development.)

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.

It is an advantage if you have a driver's license.
