Police Authority seeks PHS students as investigators in serious crimes

Are you ready for a bigger task? The Police Authority is now looking for PHS students who want to work as investigators in serious crimes during the summer months of June to August. Police Region West

Police Region West consists of Halland County and Västra Götaland County. The operations in the region are organized into five police areas: Fyrbodal, Halland, Skaraborg, Storgöteborg, and Älvsborg, which are collectively divided into 16 local police areas. Furthermore, there are three regional units: the operational unit, the intelligence unit, and the investigation unit, a regional administration office, and national departments represented in the region to support police operations.

Police Area Halland

Police Area Halland encompasses six municipalities and is organized into four local police areas: Kungsbacka, Varberg, Falkenberg, and Halmstad. At the police area level, there is an investigation section and a local administration office.

Investigation Section PO Halland

The investigation section in Police Area Halland is organized into serious crimes, surveillance, crimes in close relationships, operational support, and on-call FU leaders. The investigation section has a joint assignment for the police area and investigates crimes throughout the entire police area.

The Police Authority is now looking for PHS students who want to work as investigators during June-August, based in Halland.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will support the operation with various tasks within investigations. Examples of tasks include conducting interviews, performing report-taking, handling and documenting seizures, ordering forensic examinations, internal surveillance, and registering alerts. The work may also involve contact with complex cases and investigative materials that may be perceived as both distressing and unpleasant.

QUALIFICATIONS

This is an opportunity for you who:

• Are a student at the police education and have completed term 3 by the start of employment in June 2026
• Have good knowledge of Swedish in both spoken and written form.
• Have good computer skills and are quick to learn new IT systems.
• Have work experience.

It is an advantage if you also have:

• Previous experience of similar tasks within the Police Authority.
• Previous experience of investigative work outside the Police Authority.
• Experience in meeting people in vulnerable situations.
• Knowledge of sign language and/or non-Nordic languages, in addition to English, where you can use the language fluently in your professional practice.

Personal Qualities

We are looking for someone who is outgoing and has good collaboration skills with a willingness to support your colleagues. You are flexible, responsible, and able to prioritize. The work pace is often high, which also demands resilience to stress. Furthermore, you need to be secure, possess great integrity, and have a high level of security awareness. You are a good representative of the police, act lawfully, and work to strengthen the authority's trust among the public.

Information about leave during the employment period: If you are selected for employment, you do not have the right to vacation leave. Instead, you will receive vacation compensation paid after the employment ends. Shorter leave with salary deduction may be granted if the operation allows this and then by agreement with the manager.
