Engaged Youth Coach Wanted for Meeting Place Zonen in Andersberg

We are looking for an engaged youth coach for the meeting place Zonen in Andersberg who wants to make a difference during children's and young people's free time.

The mission consists of inspiring, enriching, and enabling equal and meaningful leisure activities aimed at children and young people aged 12-16 years. The meeting place in Andersberg is part of the unit Young Meetings, which is responsible for providing safe meeting places for youth throughout Halmstad Municipality: Horizonten in Fyllinge, Zonen in Andersberg, Hype in Vallås, and United in Oskarström.

Your Responsibilities

The youth coach's role includes supporting young people in various types of activities that are based on and require their own active engagement and responsibility. You coach their ideas, strengthen their participation, and guide them in creating their own projects and events.

As a youth coach, you help shape safe, equal, and inspiring environments where young people not only feel welcome but also want to stay, grow, and develop together with us. You will work in the open activities at the meeting place as well as with outreach activities in schools and other places in the municipality where young people are present to capture the needs and interests of children and youth.

The daily work is based on a promoting perspective and builds on the interests of young people. As a youth coach, you will lead and plan a wide range of theme and group activities such as sports activities, cultural experiences, creative creation, dance, and more. We also offer a varied activity program throughout the year, with a special focus on activities during school breaks.

The role also includes collaborating with other important actors in the municipality (social services, leisure, and schools) to meet young people at risk and offer early coordinated efforts and opportunities for meaningful leisure time.

You will work during children's and young people's free time, which means you will work an average of two weekday evenings a week and every other weekend.

Your Qualifications

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has a post-secondary education in behavioral science/health pedagogy/social pedagogy, leisure leader education, or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
  • Has experience leading and guiding young people as well as involving and inspiring them. Is attentive, motivated, and good at building relationships.
  • Is creative and solution-focused and can plan and adapt activities according to participants' interests.
  • Has previous experience working with youth, preferably in socio-economically disadvantaged areas. Experience in cultural or community life is a plus.
  • Can work independently as well as in a group and take responsibility for activities and projects.
  • Is a reliable adult who strives to develop youth activities forward.
  • A driver's license (B) is required.

Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
