Your new job

You will be responsible for providing care and support.

This is done with a rehabilitation mindset, meaning that residents should be activated as much as possible in their care to enhance or maintain their functional abilities. You will administer medication under the delegation of a nurse, carry out certain rehabilitation measures under the delegation of an occupational therapist/physiotherapist, and report activities continuously both verbally and in writing to the unit manager/nurse and colleagues.

You will also be a contact person for several residents, which means you have a special supervisory responsibility for the resident(s) you are assigned to. The contact person role further entails working with the resident to create an implementation plan to provide individually tailored care and support as much as possible. The contact person should also strive to maintain a high degree of independence for the resident. Additionally, the contact person's tasks may vary and be adapted according to the resident's needs.

The majority of the work involves direct care and support for the residents. This includes personalized assistance in all areas necessary for the resident to lead a rich and normal life. For example, hygiene, dressing, ordering food, serving meals, setting tables, washing dishes, laundry, ironing, procuring supplies, administering medication, going for walks, accompanying to appointments (e.g., dentist), or conversing with residents, etc. In all these areas, residents should be activated as much as possible to enhance or maintain their functional abilities. The position also includes providing care and support at the end of life and palliative care. The work also involves various forms of reporting and documentation.

Your qualifications

We are primarily looking for you who are a trained care assistant. Care aides with experience may also be considered. It is advantageous if you have experience in care work/elderly care and working in a dementia unit, as well as a good understanding of the Combine management system.

Taking initiative, collaborating well with others, and being responsible for your tasks are essential qualities. You should also be attentive and have the ability to understand others' perspectives or situations. The ability to plan and organize your work effectively is also important. We value if you are confident and stable, have self-awareness, and can adapt to different situations. Since the work involves contacts with tenants, relatives, and colleagues, as well as documentation, you should have a very good command of the Swedish language in speaking, reading, and writing.

Solstickegatan Elderly Home is located in Bäckalyckan and is easily accessible by bus. The elderly home has 80 apartments designated for individuals with dementia. At Solstickegatan, we aim to create a pleasant environment and atmosphere where our residents can maintain a good quality of life. Currently, more than 100 employees work in the entire facility. We care about each other and our work environment, we have good cooperation, and of course, the well-being of our residents is always our focus.

Good to know

Within Jönköping Municipality, we offer the same salary for care assistant positions regardless of which elderly home you work at. This means that the salary is not affected by the choice of workplace. All our elderly homes have comparable working hours, and we comply with current legislation, including rules on rest periods and weekend work.

The recruitment concerns 4 positions as care assistants for our dementia units, full-time. Start date by agreement. Working hours are scheduled for daytime and evening shifts on both weekdays and weekends. Jönköping Municipality strives for full-time work as the norm and always offers a 100% employment rate.
