The Role of an ELSA Nurse

ELSA stands for the Unit for Registered Nurses in General Training. As an ELSA nurse, you are permanently employed, but you work in different departments to broaden your skills. You typically work for six or twelve months in each department before changing. The change of placement occurs on March 1 and September 1. As an ELSA nurse, you are part of the department's regular staffing during your time there, meaning you do not work in addition to the regular staff.

As an ELSA nurse, the work is varied and suits you if you are curious and enjoy trying new things! The role is ideal for newly graduated nurses who have not yet decided which area they want to work in, as well as experienced nurses who wish to expand their skills or try something new for a while.

Your Future Workplace

Höglandssjukhuset is one of three hospitals in the Region of Jönköping County. Approximately 110,000 people live in the catchment area. In the first step, you will complete four basic placements in the operations:

• Medicine and Geriatrics Clinic
• Orthopedic Clinic
• Psychiatric Clinic
• Surgical Clinic

After that, you will move on to more advanced assignments in the operations:

• Ambulance Care in Höglandet
• Emergency Clinic
• Day Surgery Unit (DUVA).
• Dialysis Unit
• Endoscopy Unit
• Women's Clinic
• Health Centers Bra Liv

Your Profile

We are looking for you who are a newly graduated, licensed nurse. You do not need to have your license to apply for the position, but you must have it before you start your employment with us.

As a person, you understand the importance of a good approach and take responsibility for your tasks. As an ELSA nurse, you are someone who easily adapts to changing circumstances and enjoys varied tasks. You have good collaboration skills, are proactive, and take responsibility for both your own tasks and the overall picture. You are good at working independently and can effectively prioritize your tasks.
