About the Company

GKN Aerospace Sweden is part of GKN Aerospace, which manufactures engine components, aircraft structures, cabin windows, wiring, and much more for many of the world's aircraft. The companies in the Aerospace division that work with parts for jet engines form Engines together, and at the facility in Trollhättan, advanced parts for engines for aircraft and spacecraft are developed and manufactured. They also work with engine maintenance.

Your Responsibilities

As a senior mechanical designer at GKN Aerospace, you will work on the development of subsystems for advanced jet engines. You will design components and structures in various materials – for example, high-strength steel, aluminum, composites, and with additive manufacturing (AM technology).

The work includes both new development and improvement of existing solutions, in close collaboration with production, testing, and other technical areas. Right now, we are working on everything from concept studies to demonstrators and product support for engines that have been in operation for several decades.

Examples of tasks: • Design of load-bearing structures, control and installation details, and integration of electronic components. • Preparation of technical documentation such as drawings, models, specifications, and installation documentation. • Development of subsystems for various modules of jet engines. • Active participation in project work and technical discussions with both internal and external stakeholders. • For those who want to further develop, there are several possible paths depending on interest – for example, as a technical specialist, team lead, or in more strategic and coordinating roles.

Your Profile

We are looking for someone who is a qualified engineer in mechanical engineering, mechanics, product development, or a similar field. Alternatively, you have built up equivalent competence through long professional experience. You have at least five years of experience working as a mechanical designer and are accustomed to working in a CAD environment.

To thrive and succeed in the role, it is important that you have excellent collaborative skills and are both communicative and pedagogical in your way of working. You are social and appreciate discussing and exchanging ideas with colleagues from different disciplines. You are not afraid to ask questions when something is unclear and have an open attitude where you are happy to share your knowledge and help others.

Desirable qualifications: • CAD tool Siemens NX, as well as PLM system Teamcenter/Active workspace. • Experience with lightweight constructions in high-strength steel or composite materials. • Knowledge in design for additive manufacturing (AM/3D printing). • Deeper knowledge/reviewer in product definition in the form of 2D drawings and/or 3D models (MBD). • Previously held a leading role – as team lead, technical leader, or equivalent.

The position requires you to undergo and be approved according to the applicable regulations for security protection. For positions where GKN's customer has requirements for security classification, this may, in some cases, entail requirements for certain citizenship.
