Kriminalvården is hiring a nurse

Kriminalvården is growing – we are building new, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, remand, and client transport.

The operational area (VO) Tygelsjö/Ringsjön consists of the Tygelsjö prison with 137 places for men and the Ringsjön prison with 82 places for women in security class 3, led by a prison manager together with seven correctional inspectors.

Both prisons conduct extensive VSP and investigative work, while also providing valuable employment such as a horticulture, carpentry with pallet manufacturing, mechanical workshop, assembly/packaging, kitchen and cooking, learning center, and other structured activities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Kriminalvården provides some open health and medical care, which means that all prisons and remands have medical clinics where inmates can seek care. In addition to nurses, there are general practitioners at the clinics. Some clinics also have psychiatrists. As a nurse, you will have your own clinic for assessing minor ailments, but you will also evaluate which applicants should see a doctor. This means that you will work with both somatic and psychiatric health care for inmates, assist during medical appointments, and administer medications primarily through dose dispensing. Documentation is done in the PMO patient data journal. Temporary assignments at other locations such as Tygelsjö prison may become relevant.

You are quality-conscious and meticulous, and you have the ability to structure your approach and drive your processes forward. You are aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Requirements:

• Nursing license
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing
• Driving license B

Meritorious:

• A relevant specialization or further education for the employer, such as in psychiatry, emergency care, district nursing, or outpatient care
• Relevant work experience in the profession
• Relevant language skills

OTHER
