Kriminalvården is growing – we are building new facilities, renovating, and expanding, and we are now looking for more employees. Our most important goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society will be safer and more secure for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation services, remand prisons, and client transport.

Operational Area Kristianstad

The operational area Kristianstad is part of the Southern region of Kriminalvården and currently includes the Kristianstad prison, located about 10 km south of Kristianstad. At present, this prison has about 145 inmates and 120 employees. We are undergoing a significant capacity increase, and a lot is happening in the operational area in terms of renovations and new constructions. In a few years, the new Vä prison is expected to accommodate about 600 inmates and have 500 employees. The largest professional group is correctional officers, but healthcare professionals, administrative staff, educators, production leaders, etc., also work here.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Kriminalvården provides some open health and medical care, which means that all prisons and remand prisons have medical clinics where inmates can seek care. In addition to nurses, there are general practitioners at the clinic. Some clinics also have psychiatrists. As a nurse, you will have your own clinic for assessing minor ailments, but you will also assess which applicants should see a doctor. This means that you will work with both somatic and psychiatric health care for the inmates, assist during medical appointments, and administer medications primarily through dose dispensing. Documentation is done in the PMO patient data journal. Temporary assignments at other operational locations may become relevant.

Collaboration with other correctional staff is an important part of the job. This includes training and guiding client-facing staff in health and medical care issues such as suicide prevention and emergency care.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone who is secure, stable, and self-aware. You find it easy to collaborate with others and have well-founded and clear values. In stressful situations, you remain calm, stable, and controlled. You have great integrity and the ability to make correct assessments and priorities. You are quality-conscious and meticulous and have the ability to structure your approach and drive your processes forward.

You are aware of and understand how background, culture, and group affiliation affect yourself and others. Furthermore, you are expected to contribute to ensuring that everyone is treated equally through your approach. We place great emphasis on personal suitability.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Nursing license.
• Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
• Driving license B.

It is advantageous if you have:

• A relevant specialization or further education for the employer, such as in psychiatry, emergency care, district nursing, or outpatient care.
• Relevant work experience in the profession.
• Relevant language skills.

OTHER
