About the Workplace

The Open Care Unit Family is part of the child and youth section, which has a cohesive organization and overall responsibility for preventive work, investigation, and assistance-assessed interventions for children, adolescents, and families. A total of about 240 employees work in the section.

The Open Care Unit Family primarily works with assistance-assessed interventions and is tasked with providing support and treatment to parents and their children, as well as to adult perpetrators and victims of violence. In line with the new Social Services Act, work is underway to expand the number of treatment interventions offered without assistance decisions.

Based on the nature of the assignments, the unit is divided into three groups with different focuses. The “Family Violence Group” works with cases where violence has occurred within the family, the “Family Treatment Group” works with various types of family treatment interventions and network work, and the “Relationship Violence Group” focuses on adult victims of violence and perpetrators. A total of 20 therapists work in the unit, and the work is led by 2 group leaders and 1 unit manager.

We are located in premises very close to Flemingsberg center, and it is easy to get here by public transport.

About the Position as Family Therapist / Child Therapist in the Family Violence Group

Seize the opportunity to apply for this unique, challenging, and exciting position where you will work with the child's caregivers and have processing treatment processes with children and adolescents. You will belong to a workgroup with extensive experience and very high competence.

A large part of the work as a therapist in the Family Violence Group is to offer a fifteen-week treatment intervention to children who have been victims of violence, as well as their caregivers, within the framework of a manual-based treatment intervention. The therapists in the group can enter these cases in the role of either family therapist/parent therapist or child therapist. In the cases, the designated child therapist works to provide the child with a processing and guilt-relieving context while the family therapist/parent therapist works on behavior change with the caregivers. The treatment work occurs in close and tight collaboration between the family therapist and child therapist.

Another task is to offer a ten-week intervention to children who have witnessed violence between their caregivers in the role of child therapist or family therapist/parent therapist. The intervention targets the entire system, meaning the child, the victim of violence, and the perpetrator.

The therapists have access to children's rooms equipped with play and creative materials to help the child express and process difficult emotions and experiences on their terms.

Our interventions for children always occur in parallel with work with the child's caregivers.

The position also includes offering time-limited family treatment interventions without prior needs assessment.

Who Are You?

Qualifications:

• Relevant academic education for the position, such as a degree in social work, behavioral science, or psychology.
• Basic psychotherapy training (formerly Step 1)

Desirable Competencies:

• Good knowledge of violence and its consequences for all family system members
• Experience as a family therapist within social services.
• Experience with child conversations
