We are looking for an inspector for our Public and Environment unit in the Supervision department.

Societally Important Tasks

The Public and Environment unit currently consists of a unit manager and 12 employees. The unit works with supervision regarding the protection of the public and the environment concerning, among other things, local environmental monitoring for nuclear facilities, management of radioactive waste, clearance of materials, and contaminated areas. Furthermore, the unit is responsible for supervision and guidance for workplaces with high radon levels. The unit also oversees UV, laser, and cosmetic treatments.

The focus of this position is supervision within nuclear facilities, specifically in the areas of radioactive waste management and local environmental monitoring, which includes emission issues and radioactive substances in the environment. Work within the unit's other areas of responsibility may also be included.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has

• an academic degree in natural sciences or engineering or another equivalent degree that the authority considers suitable for the position
• experience working at a nuclear facility in one of the following areas:
• radioactive waste and its management
• local environmental monitoring, i.e., emissions of radioactive substances and their consequences for the public
• very good knowledge of, and ability to express yourself in, Swedish
• a valid driving license (B)

It is advantageous if you have experience in one or more of the following areas:

• inspections
• work in operations involving radioactive substances, such as investigations of radioactive substances in the environment, exposure limitations, or management of radioactive waste
• how radioactive substances are generated and distributed in various parts of nuclear operations
• work with methods to determine the presence of radioactive substances

Employment Conditions

The employment is a permanent position starting as agreed. We usually apply a six-month probationary period.

The position may become security classified, which means a security review with background checks according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585), which will be conducted before a decision on employment is made. Swedish citizenship may be required for the position.

You may be part of the authority's crisis organization and may also be placed in a military position at the authority. The crisis organization performs radiation protection assessments and nuclear analyses and collaborates with other relevant actors to manage radiological emergencies, including situations of heightened preparedness. Within the framework of the crisis organization, you will be part of the response readiness that the authority maintains to support other actors in society with radiation measurements.

A fitness certificate for work with ionizing radiation is required for the position. Consideration will be given to any conflict of interest rules and waiting periods.
