Description

Handslag for Biskopsgården is a collaboration between the city, property owners, and businesses aimed at creating better conditions for children and young people to succeed in their studies and for more residents of Biskopsgården to achieve self-sufficiency and have opportunities for meaningful leisure activities.

The position falls under the social services department of Hisingen, specifically the unit for community development issues. This unit employs a development leader who represents the department in Handslag for Biskopsgården.

The development leader supervises a team of four part-time youth mentors and two social work students on practical training. During the spring of 2026, this team will focus on conducting relationship-building activities during and after school hours, planning and staffing our open evenings focused on youth employment every Tuesday at the meeting place Framtidshubben. The team will also focus on education and guidance for young people within the framework of the entry-level jobs that the project offers in-house.

In your role, you will work together with your colleagues to shape the content at Framtidshubben regarding visits from inspirers, designing short training sessions to enhance skills, contacting employers, and engaging with visitors. A significant part of your work will also involve outreach and relationship-building activities at primary schools with Biskopsgården students, as well as further developing and spreading an exciting initiative in close collaboration with schools as an arena.

As a youth mentor, you will be part of a fantastic team with the opportunity to contribute to the development of an exciting initiative with strong actors. You are crucial for the effectiveness of the initiative, and you will play an important role in many young people's lives!

This assignment is a part-time position lasting 3.5 months during the spring of 2026, with good chances of an extended assignment from August to December 2026. Working hours will be scheduled during the day and evening, and weekend work may occur.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who has completed or is currently pursuing post-secondary education in a relevant field. Experience in mentoring and reading promotion initiatives is also advantageous.

You must be self-assured and preferably have experience working with/mentoring young people, especially in areas similar to Biskopsgården. It is important that you can convey the purpose of the activities and inspire the younger generation in your role.

This position suits you if you can balance being structured and creative. You need to take an active role in planning, implementation, and follow-up while understanding that the work may sometimes evolve along the way.

The position is suitable for you if you are accustomed to engaging with children/youth (ages 12-20) and find it easy to establish connections, as relationships are the foundation of the work. Participation and influence, meaningful leisure, language development, and employment are other themes that characterize the workplace.

The Social Services Department of Hisingen is part of the social services in the City of Gothenburg. We are one of four social services departments. We work purposefully to create a better everyday life for the residents of Hisingen.
