Job Advertisement: Wound Nurse and Tobacco Cessation Specialist

The Surgical Outpatient Clinic in Växjö offers specialized care in surgery and consists of several teams working in the areas of gastrointestinal, stoma, urology, breast and endocrine, vascular, wound care, sexology, day care, and surgical planning. Tobacco cessation is also included in hospital care.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role, you will work 50% as a wound nurse and 50% as a tobacco cessation specialist.

As a wound nurse, you will manage your workday independently and work autonomously. The job offers a good mix of patient meetings and administrative tasks. Responsibilities include:

• The majority of your time will be spent on patient meetings in the form of your own clinics. You will also lead interdisciplinary conferences with doctors about once a month. A small part of the work consists of telephone consultations.
• You will have a consulting role towards the hospital's departments, primary care, and also towards the municipality in some cases.
• You will train and convene wound care responsible staff in the departments for semester training sessions, as well as doctors during their residency.
• You will handle referrals from doctors.
• In the wound nurse role, you will work 50% and be the sole person in this role.

As a tobacco cessation specialist, you will work extensively with motivational interviewing and have the following responsibilities:

• You will offer qualified advisory conversations and support to patients who need to quit smoking or using snuff in connection with illness or before surgery/treatment.
• You will lead group sessions and training on tobacco cessation.
• As a tobacco cessation specialist, you will be one of two working 50%.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a licensed nurse with experience in wound care. If you also have training or experience in tobacco cessation, it is an advantage. It is also advantageous if you have training in motivational interviewing.

As a person, you should have good communication skills and the ability to work independently. You should also be confident and pedagogical to succeed best in this role.
