Teaching Assistant/Special Education Teacher at Askebyskolan
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. We are now looking for someone who wants to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
Description
Askebyskolan is beautifully located about 5 minutes from Rinkeby C.
The school has approximately 350 students and 80 staff members. The school consists of a primary school (grades F-6), a special primary school (grades 1-6), and a regional special needs group.
Responsibilities
In the role of teaching assistant/special education teacher, you will work with one or more students who need an extra adult. Your role will be to support and provide the students with the learning and care they need to develop based on their own conditions. You will help create a developing, meaningful, and positive environment for the students where they can reach their full potential.
Your responsibilities include supporting students in their daily school life and assisting teachers in conducting lessons. You will encounter many different tasks, and each day will not be like the other.
Qualifications
A requirement is that you have documented experience of having worked for at least 6 months with students in need of special support. You should have good knowledge and understanding of NPF (neuropsychiatric disabilities) and the challenges it entails. You should know how to meet and work with students who need clear structure and routines.
We are looking for someone who can create situations where students succeed, and your view of children is characterized by respect and belief that all students can and want to develop. You should be able to build relationships and, in your daily work, spark students' interest and encourage them to learn. In your work, you use a low-arousal approach, are professional, and can adapt your communication based on the situation. You are empathetic, mature, have good judgment, and can set boundaries. In your role, you are secure and recognize the importance of being an adult role model.
