Research and education at the Department of Environmental and Geological Sciences (MGeo) address fundamental and applied questions about the Earth's past, present, and future climate and environment, including human interaction with nature and the consequences for human well-being. MGeo develops and applies groundbreaking methods, models, and techniques in environmental science, Quaternary and bedrock geology, paleontology, human geography, biodiversity and ecosystem science, remote sensing, geographic information science (GIS), and computational science in environmental and health studies to investigate processes ranging from the microscopic to the planetary, across all timescales.

The position of HR Administrator at the Department of Environmental and Geological Sciences is located within the administrative unit.

The administrative unit houses support functions for the operations.

Job responsibilities

As part of a team of two, you will work independently with various HR issues and other related administrative tasks. Environmental and geological sciences will be your area of operation, and you will work with its management and staff.

Your tasks include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Preparation of documentation for employment and employment decisions at the department.
  • Management of doctoral positions: announcements, extensions, and application lifts.
  • Management of scholarships and certain fees as well as notifications.
  • Review of cases in personnel administrative systems, e.g., leave, dismissals, recruitments, compensations/fees, vacation management, etc.
  • Act as support for department heads, administrative managers, research group leaders, and other employees in HR administrative matters.
  • Administrative tasks, such as record-keeping and archiving.

You will be actively involved in developing the HR administrative work by collaborating with your colleague to establish routines for various processes. The work involves close cooperation with other administrators and research staff, where information transfer is an important part of your daily routine. You will also collaborate with colleagues at other organizational levels within the university.

Qualifications

The requirements for the position are:

  • HR education or substantial previous experience in HR administrative work that the employer assesses to be equivalent.
  • Knowledge of laws and agreements in the HR field.
  • Good administrative skills.
  • Very good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.

Meritorious for the position are:

  • Experience with various administrative support systems such as personnel systems, recruitment systems, etc.
  • Experience in HR work within universities/colleges.
  • Knowledge of the laws and agreements that govern the university's operations.

You are a person who is meticulous, communicative, analytical, service-oriented, and accustomed to taking responsibility for completing your tasks. You are structured and efficient in your way of working and have the ability to switch between details and a holistic perspective. You must be able to work independently, but you are also part of a team where everyone contributes. Therefore, we expect you to have good collaboration skills and enjoy working with others. The ability to plan your work, sometimes with strict deadlines, is an important trait. We will place great emphasis on personal suitability. Consideration will also be given to how the applicant, through their experience and competence, is assessed to complement and strengthen the HR administrative work at the Department of Environmental and Geological Sciences.

Other

The employment is permanent with a workload of 100 percent, starting as soon as possible. A probationary period may be applied.

First interviews are expected to be held in weeks 7 & 9.

At the Faculty of Science, research and education are conducted in biology, astronomy, physics, geosciences, chemistry, mathematics, and environmental science. The operations are conducted within the northern university area. The faculty has about 1,900 students, 330 doctoral students, and 730 employees.
