PAKA/PIVA is the unit commonly referred to as the psychiatric emergency department.

This operation consists of an acute psychiatric reception, acute psychiatric ward (PAKA), and psychiatric intensive care unit (PIVA). The catchment area is the entire Blekinge County. The mission includes all citizens in the county who have a need for acute psychiatric health care. We are open around the clock. We are located in Karlskrona. PAKA has six beds and PIVA has four. Staff rotate daily across all three parts of the operation.

About the Job

Following patients through the acute psychiatry unit and representing patients in their various situations and contacts is the focus of the tasks. The teams consist of doctors, nurses, and caregivers. Additionally, we have a social worker connected to us when our patients have such needs. Within the Regional Joint Acute Psychiatry, we are about 40 colleagues and we work on a rotating basis.

The tasks include both leadership functions, outward-facing work where you provide medical and human support at the reception, ward, and through telephone counseling to patients, relatives, and various municipal services, as well as sampling and medication distribution. Conversations where contact with the patient as well as with relatives is an important part of the work - all to support the person in their everyday life.

We offer you a solid introduction, and during this introduction, you will receive the basic knowledge you need from various professions to be able to do a good job in your role as a nurse. All staff undergo TERMA training (violence and aggression), reception training, fire, and CPR training.

About You

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse. Further education in psychiatry and experience in acute psychiatric care is considered an advantage. The work is varied, and the pace can vary during the work shift, which means that you should have a high degree of flexibility. The person we are looking for should have a good ability to work both independently and in a team.

You should have a positive outlook on life and a high degree of self-awareness. The work can at times be mentally and physically demanding as we work in acute psychiatry. Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability. A driver's license is an advantage as the work may involve some transportation.

Applicants who are relevant for employment must present an extract from the Police Authority's criminal record before employment.
