About Us

The Laboratory Medicine in Region Blekinge includes clinical pathology and cytology, clinical chemistry, and transfusion medicine.

The clinical pathology and cytology operation is a regional SWEDAC-accredited department located at Blekingesjukhuset in Karlskrona.

We currently have about 25 employees from various professional categories. Here you will join a medical team consisting of 4 specialists and 2 resident doctors. Our area of responsibility receives a diverse range of cytological and histological samples for preparation and diagnostics. In total, approximately 11,000 PAD and about 1,700 CD are processed annually in Region Blekinge. We follow medical developments to provide our customers with high-quality service.

With us, you will have the opportunity to work in an advanced, technical, and highly educational environment. You will work in new, purpose-built facilities with a view of our beautiful archipelago. The laboratory has a diverse operation of traditional county hospital materials, including thoracic surgical specimens. Autopsies are not performed. The department works with digital pathology, and most doctors conduct the majority of their diagnostics via computer screens.

About the Job

We offer you a secure, enjoyable, and educational employment as a resident doctor. As a resident doctor with us, you will work according to your level of training. The residency program includes supervision and study time each week, seminars, and courses. The content of the training is planned individually in consultation with the supervisor and the study director and meets the requirements set by the National Board of Health and Welfare and the Swedish Society for Pathology.

About You

We are looking for someone with a Swedish medical license and good knowledge of the Swedish language. Experience in clinical pathology is an advantage. We place great importance on your ability to collaborate and your positive attitude. Furthermore, you are meticulous, responsible, and work towards good service and strong customer relations. A positive attitude towards operational development and improvement work is highly valued. Since the laboratory is accredited, it is important that you are quality-conscious and understand policies and guidelines.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Region Blekinge places all permanent staff in a crisis preparedness position. Some of our positions are security classified, where the employee must undergo a security clearance interview and background check according to the Security Protection Act (2018:585).
