The Heart Center in Umeå aims to provide the best care for heart patients in northern Sweden. We have highly specialized cardiac care and a comprehensive responsibility for the region's patients.

The Heart Center includes the Cardiology Clinic, Thoracic Surgery, the Cardiologist, PCI Lab, the Arrhythmia Unit, as well as Clinical Physiology and the Center for Cardiovascular Genetics. We investigate, treat, and operate on patients from the entire northern region with diseases of the heart, lungs, and coronary arteries. By collaborating across boundaries, having effective care chains, working on continuous improvement, and having competent staff, we can offer care of very high quality. In close collaboration with the university, we conduct research, development, and education. We have about 400 employees at the Heart Center.

Thoracic Surgery is part of the Heart Center and has about 40 employees. Here, anesthetic nurses, operating room nurses, nursing assistants, and perfusionists work. Annually, over 1000 procedures are performed across four operating rooms. Thoracic Surgery performs thoracic surgical procedures, primarily heart and lung surgery but also thoracic vascular surgery and, for example, chest wall corrective procedures. Thoracic Surgery has regional responsibility and receives patients from the entire northern region.

The operation is characterized by a well-implemented patient-centered approach, good monitoring of operations, a well-thought-out organization, and good cooperation between professional groups.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a nursing assistant with us, you contribute knowledge and commitment that makes people feel secure.

In Thoracic Surgery, you work in a team in the operating room, with the patient in focus. The work is characterized by mutual respect where all professions collaborate to provide the patient with the best possible treatment and care. Working as a nursing assistant with us means being responsible for perioperative care together with other staff. The role includes practical tasks such as assistance in the operating room, as well as non-technical skills such as communication and teamwork.

The assignment includes documentation, development of methods, as well as supervision of students and new staff, and assisting with all tasks occurring in the department within the employee's area of competence.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with an approved nursing assistant education. Since nursing assistant is a protected title, you need to provide a certificate from the National Board of Health and Welfare, or alternatively a service certificate that means you are covered by the National Board's transitional provisions and can use the title until June 30, 2033. Experience from working in an operating department or in cardiac care is an advantage.

You have a good ability to work both independently and collaboratively with other professional groups. As a person, you are adaptable and consider the needs of the entire operation. You thrive in a fast-paced work environment and have a positive attitude towards your work.
