Åsele is a place perfectly located between the coast and the mountains in Southern Lapland. At Åsele Municipality, we ensure that essential services such as water and heating are provided, roads are cleared, our elderly are well taken care of, and school children receive their education. We make a difference for everyone living, visiting, and working in Åsele.

The Åsele Municipality covers a scenic area of 4235 km², which has over fifty nature reserves and a national park. The area serves as reindeer grazing land for two Sami villages during winter. What attracts visitors to Åsele, besides nature and outdoor activities, is the historic Åsele Market, one of Sweden's largest summer markets.

Åsele Municipality (Sjeltien tjïelte in Southern Sámi) is a Sámi administrative area, and knowledge of Sámi is an asset in certain professions.
