The Psychiatric Clinic at Norrland University Hospital in Umeå is the largest psychiatric clinic in Norrland with over 400 employees. We have three general psychiatric wards, forensic psychiatric services, and several specialized outpatient and treatment units. The Psychiatric Clinic works for equitable care for all and nursing based on research and clinical experience. The clinic has moved to a newly built facility where the care environment is characterized by the importance of the care environment in promoting health. The living and working environment is supported by modern technology and research, which will be evident in the lighting and communication systems. The clinic will be climate-smart through self-sufficiency in electricity and heating.

We are looking for a nurse for the geriatric psychiatric clinic that offers specialized psychiatric care for individuals over 60 years old. The clinic employs doctors, psychologists, nurses, social workers, nursing assistants, and medical secretaries. We collaborate daily with various stakeholders such as social services, primary care, insurance agencies, and employment agencies. At the clinic, we work with both outpatient visits and home visits.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Are you a nurse with knowledge of elderly health or are you interested and curious about geriatric psychiatry? Then we are looking for you for our clinic. At the clinic, we work in a multiprofessional team where the nurse is an incredibly important component. As a nurse, part of your responsibilities will be to function as a clinic nurse at certain times, where you will provide telephone advice. You will be responsible for medication management and follow-up during pharmacological treatment.

QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for you who are a licensed nurse, preferably with specialist training in elderly care or psychiatry. Previous experience in geriatrics/psychiatry, especially with geriatric psychiatric patients, is particularly interesting.

In your work, you are independent, structured, and clear, and you enjoy having varied tasks during your workday. We also see that you have a good ability to collaborate with other professionals and external healthcare contacts. You have an interest in working with elderly patients and their needs.
