Job Responsibilities
Backa Kyrkogata is a group home located in Hisingen where five residents live.
The residence offers shared spaces and a patio where residents enjoy socializing, having coffee, and grilling during the summer months. At Backa Kyrkogata, we work to provide individually tailored support and services to adults. Our residents, aged between 20 and 70, live in their own apartments and represent a diverse group with varying needs.
As a support assistant, you play a central role in promoting residents' participation and creating conditions for them to influence their services and daily lives. You provide support in daily life – from communication and social interaction to leisure activities and practical household chores. By adapting your working methods, you contribute to ensuring that each individual has the opportunity to live an independent and meaningful life.
You collaborate closely with people in the residents' network, such as guardians, social workers, relatives, and healthcare professionals. The position also includes social documentation and medication management according to current delegation.
By establishing and following implementation plans, you ensure that the residents remain the focus. You contribute to creating a safe home where each person has the opportunity to live like others. The role also includes motivating and inspiring the residents – for example, by strengthening social contacts and creating opportunities for enriching leisure activities based on the resident's interests. As a support assistant, you make an important contribution and enable our residents to grow and develop.
All social documentation is done in the documentation system Treserva. If you have not previously used the systems used within the City of Gothenburg, you will receive training in these.
Residential care with special services offers support around the clock. We base our work on the residents' needs and need to adapt working hours accordingly. Working hours are scheduled for daytime and evening shifts as well as weekends. We use Time Care Planning for operationally adapted and flexible schedules.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has a degree from the Health and Care program, support assistant training, or the Child and Leisure program with a focus on social or pedagogical work. The educational requirement is also met if you have a post-secondary specialization in the area of disabilities that includes at least 200 YH points, 120 higher education credits, or a combination thereof equivalent to at least four semesters of full-time studies. Alternatively, 60 higher education credits and at least two years of experience working with support and services for people with disabilities. The education should have relevant credits in behavioral science, pedagogy, psychology, social work, and (psychiatric) care or other education deemed equivalent by the employer.
Communication is an important part of the job, which requires you to have passed Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1. If you do not meet the qualification requirements in Swedish 1 or Swedish as a second language 1, you may be offered to take a language test through the test user Educateit.
It is advantageous if you have experience or knowledge in AAC (alternative and augmentative communication), LAB (low-arousal approach), and clear pedagogical methods.
You take responsibility for both your own and the group's tasks and always work with the individual's best interests in focus. You strive to carry out tasks carefully and follow up on results to ensure good quality.
In your interactions with others, you are friendly, accommodating, and respectful – even when the pace is high. You meet everyone in a positive and professional manner and work to ensure that the resident receives the support and service they need.
You are stable and secure in challenging situations, can handle demands and time pressure, and make well-founded decisions even when circumstances are challenging.
