Chief Dentist at the Patient Safety Unit

Are you an experienced dentist interested in patient safety issues and healthcare quality? If so, the Patient Safety Unit, in close collaboration with Public Dental Service, offers an opportunity to work comprehensively on developing patient safety and healthcare quality.

Your Responsibilities

The Chief Dentist works to ensure high dental quality and patient safety within Public Dental Service. The position includes providing knowledge support on various issues, conducting investigations and follow-ups regarding quality and patient safety, working strategically on patient safety issues, and ensuring that dental care is provided safely. As Chief Dentist, you will be part of a central group of chief physicians, facilitating increased collaboration with healthcare and municipal care.

You will provide support and regular feedback to the operations regarding patient safety issues, such as care deviations and lex Maria reports, focusing on continuous improvement. In preparation for lex Maria inquiries, you will collaborate with Public Dental Service's therapy council. You will also participate in Public Dental Service's quality group and regularly be appointed to the management group.

The Chief Dentist position is a permanent part-time position (40%) that can be combined with a clinical or administrative permanent position within Public Dental Service. The position is located at the Patient Safety Unit within the development support of healthcare. The unit has 14 employees.

Your Skills and Competencies

We are looking for a qualified dentist with extensive experience in all aspects of dental care, preferably with experience in leading and developing operations. You have several years of clinical background and preferably experience in mentoring younger colleagues.

In your role, it is important that you easily build relationships and create trust. Furthermore, you should be structured and quality-oriented with good knowledge and experience of the laws, regulations, and processes that are central to high-quality dental care. We see you as a person who is passionate about improvement work and who has the ability to work both with the big picture as well as with details when necessary.

You are comfortable working in a politically governed organization, and you can manage and collaborate in a system with many internal and external stakeholders. As a person, you are secure and stable. You are good at collaborating and listening, and you communicate clearly. You are driven to develop processes that contribute to simplifying and facilitating operations, and you have the ability to engage others. You have high integrity and the ability to make independent decisions. You are also good at structuring your work and meeting deadlines.

You are proficient in both spoken and written Swedish and English, and you have good digital skills. Since travel is part of the job, a driver's license (B) is required.

Public Dental Service Värmland is part of the healthcare system in Region Värmland, operating general dental clinics in all municipalities in Värmland – from Sysslebäck in the north to Säffle in the southwest.
