Swedish Prison and Probation Service is hiring qualified managerial support and senior administrator

The Swedish Prison and Probation Service is growing – we are building new, renovating, and expanding, and are now looking for more employees. Our primary goal is to reduce recidivism – to break the vicious cycle. If we succeed, society becomes safer for everyone. We are the authority responsible for prisons, probation, detention centers, and client transport.

Karlskoga Prison opened in 1984 with 44 prison places. Since then, much has happened, and in August 2022, new modules were inaugurated, and the prison now has 199 places. Here, you will find a workplace that is constantly evolving. You will meet about 140 colleagues who, together with the prison manager, work towards common goals in an ongoing transformation journey. Karlskoga Prison is classified as a class 2 facility with male clients, which is the second-highest security classification in the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.

We are planning an expansion with a total of 360 places.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Your main tasks will be to support the prison manager in achieving the operational goals, maintaining a good work environment, and enabling present leadership as a qualified managerial support and senior administrator. As managerial support, you will also assist the prison inspectors (first-line managers) with coordinating overarching processes for the operational area through follow-up, investigation, administration, and handling of cases as outlined in the tasks below:

  • Support the prison manager in various processes by following up, analyzing, and proposing actions as well as conducting operational analysis
  • Coordinate, handle, and prepare cases with different time perspectives
  • At the request of the prison manager and local management group, assist with certain administrative issues
  • Work with the local management group to ensure uniformity within the operational area.
  • Prepare decision-making materials and other documents for management meetings, safety committees, and negotiations
  • Conduct and manage referrals
  • Assist the prison manager and prison inspectors with local HR work/questions
  • Practical coordination of processes regarding training and recruitment

In case of absence or temporarily increased workload, also support other operational areas from a regional perspective.

QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements:

  • Academic education in the HR field or other relevant education combined with experience deemed relevant by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service.
  • Experience in handling cases, conducting investigations, and preparing decisions.
  • Knowledge and experience in driving, leading, and maintaining processes with multiple stakeholders.
  • Several years of work experience deemed relevant for the position by the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
  • Good knowledge of the Swedish language in both spoken and written form

Desirable:

  • Experience working within the Swedish Prison and Probation Service or another law enforcement authority.
  • Experience in operational development.
  • Experience in change management.
  • Good computer skills in the various systems/programs of the Swedish Prison and Probation Service
  • Experience from several operational sites within the HR field
  • Driver's license B.
