Social Worker for the Family Unit in Salem Municipality
Salem Municipality is a vibrant and safe place where nature and green areas are always close at hand. Here, over 17,000 residents live, and just over 1,000 businesses operate. In Salem, the municipality's operations develop in close dialogue with the residents.
The municipality has nearly 1,000 employees, and our operations are characterized by our core values of sustainability, safety, and participation. We are proud that our services often show very good results. Salem is a welcoming and inclusive municipality where everyone feels at home.
Workplace Description
The Family Unit in Salem Municipality is an organization in change and development. At the turn of the year, a reorganization was carried out where outpatient care and short interventions for children and youth become part of our unit. In connection with this, the organization is changing its name to the Children and Youth Unit.
The new social services law has now come into effect, and we are actively working based on the law's intentions, focusing on a holistic view, collaboration, preventive and easily accessible interventions, as well as children's rights to participation and safety.
We are now looking for an engaged social worker for a temporary position who wants to contribute to our important mission and help us develop the future social services in Salem.
About the Family Unit
The Family Unit currently consists of a reception group, an investigation group for children and youth aged 0–20 years, foster care, and family law. We work closely together across group boundaries in an open, supportive, and unpretentious work environment. In total, we are 16 engaged employees supported by two group leaders, a unit manager, and an administrator. We prioritize a safe and sustainable work environment with private offices, present leadership, and a shared focus on qualitative service development.
You will be part of the investigation group, which consists of five social workers, where engagement, knowledge exchange, and collegial support are central parts of the work.
Job Description
As a social worker in the Family Unit of Salem Municipality, you will work with authority exercise for children and youth aged 0–20 years. Your main task is to investigate the need for support and protection according to the Social Services Act (SoL, 2025:400). You are responsible for conducting preliminary assessments, investigating, and following up on decided interventions. The work is based on the best interests of the child and the child's right to be heard, in accordance with the provisions of SoL. The position involves close collaboration with children and youth, guardians, schools, health care, BUP, and internal actors. Collaboration occurs both in acute cases and in long-term follow-up work.
Qualifications
You have a degree in social work according to the National Board of Health and Welfare's regulations and general advice (SOSFS 2014:7) and good knowledge of current legislation, especially the Social Services Act (SoL) and the Act with Special Provisions on the Care of Young People (LVU). It is an advantage if you have experience in authority exercise and work according to the BBiC model (Children's Needs in Focus), as well as if you have worked in the operational system Treserva. Experience with the Signs of Safety approach and the assessment tools EARL and SAVRY is also advantageous.
We place great importance on personal suitability. You are structured, confident in your professional role, and have good self-awareness. You build trusting relationships and collaborate well with colleagues, other professionals, and users. You communicate clearly, take responsibility, and maintain a solution-focused approach even in pressured situations.
About the Position
The position is a full-time temporary position starting by agreement until December 31, 2026. Welcome with your application by January 21, 2026.
With us, you will meet an engaged team with strong collegial support and present leadership. You will have the opportunity to participate and influence in an organization that is in constant development.
We offer a safe and sustainable work environment with a balance between demands and support, wellness benefits or wellness hours, and good employment benefits, as well as a job where collaboration, trust, and respect are self-evident values. We look forward to welcoming you to our team!
To ensure the quality of the recruitment process in Salem Municipality and enable good communication with our applicants, we ask you to submit your application digitally and not via email or paper format. It is also important that you fill in your application carefully as your merits will be weighed against other applicants.
Warm welcome with your application!
