Internal Medicine in Gotland

As a nurse, you will gain both depth and breadth within your area of expertise as Visby Hospital, the island's only emergency hospital, handles all patients on the island.

Communications between Visby and the rest of the country are good, and distances to work and leisure on Gotland are short. Gotland is characterized by its beautiful nature, cultural-historical environment, an active cultural life, and an increasing academic presence through Uppsala University Campus Gotland and a rich association life.

You now have the chance to apply for a new internal medicine rotation position at Visby Hospital, where you will work in the emergency clinic and as a resource nurse in the four internal medicine wards. You will be scheduled for five weeks in the emergency clinic and work daytime weekdays, as well as five weeks on our various internal medicine wards. You will receive an introduction in the emergency clinic and the wards.

You will receive a permanent position in internal medicine and work in the wards:

• Medical Ward
• Cardiology Ward
• Stroke Ward
• Geriatrics Ward

The emergency clinic, the anticoagulation clinic, is responsible for all patients in Gotland who are treated with Warfarin.

Your Responsibilities

As a nurse, you are responsible for patient care, which means making qualified assessments, interpreting patients' needs, and implementing care measures in consultation with the patient.

You will have a varied and responsible job. Sometimes you need to act quickly, and sometimes a patient or relative needs more time.

Here, nurses and nursing assistants work together with their patients. As a nurse, you have close collaboration with nursing assistants, doctors, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists regarding your patients.

Work in the emergency clinic includes medication dosing, appointments, information, and patient contact, mostly by phone. Here, you have a lot of personal responsibility and make independent decisions. We collaborate and have contact with other healthcare providers in inpatient care, primary care, and home healthcare.

The tasks are varied and provide a stimulating work environment.

Who Are You?

You who are applying are a licensed nurse. Experience in outpatient care and/or emergency care is an advantage.

You have good collaboration skills, are flexible, and can adapt your approach based on the individual and situation. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.

Before a decision on employment, a background check will be conducted through an extract from the criminal record.
