Welcome to the Orthopedic Department!

The Orthopedic Department at Visby Hospital consists of 15 patient beds, divided into two care teams.

With us, you will encounter both acute orthopedics and planned surgeries. We work in teams with nurses, nursing assistants, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and doctors. During weekdays, we also have an experienced nurse as a coordinator. The coordinator assists with coordination, provides knowledge support, and is available for everyone in the department in their daily work. So if you want to work with well-functioning teams and engaged colleagues, you have come to the right place.

We focus on continuous improvements and always strive to get better. It is important to us that both staff and patients feel comfortable. The orthopedic clinic, of which the orthopedic department is a part, operates under the motto: "Gotland's orthopedic services should offer patients orthopedic care of good quality based on the needs of the population. We achieve this through good teamwork and collaboration across boundaries."

Your Responsibilities

Standard nursing duties in an orthopedic department. You will work in care teams alongside nursing assistants. We also collaborate in teams with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and doctors. If necessary, we also work with other professionals such as dietitians, social workers, pharmacists, etc.

We place great importance on areas of responsibility and see them as a natural part of improving operations in both small and large matters. Therefore, you will be assigned an area of responsibility after six months at the workplace. Additionally, you will be involved in mentoring nursing students who regularly come to the workplace (requirement of at least 1 year of experience as a nurse).

You will work varying days and evenings as well as every other weekend.

Who Are You?

You are a licensed nurse, and we consider previous experience in acute care to be an asset.

You may be a new or experienced licensed nurse with a personal maturity that we believe is a good foundation for working with people in acute care. Curiosity and a desire to develop are driving forces, and you never see yourself as fully trained.

You are relationship-building and find it important to create good relationships with patients, relatives, and colleagues. Your ability to collaborate is strong, and you appreciate being part of a whole. Flexibility and the ability to adapt are prerequisites in an environment where things can change quickly. You are good at problem-solving.

Before a hiring decision is made, a background check will be conducted through an extract from the criminal record.
