Develop and Grow with Us at Region Gotland

In Region Gotland, you can develop and grow, both as an individual and together with others. When you work with us, you contribute to making Gotland an even better place for people in all walks of life. We make each other better.

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Within the AnOpIVA Visby area, we provide acute and planned surgical care, anesthesia, postoperative care, and intensive care in close collaboration with other services within Region Gotland.

The operation has a wide clinical scope and includes patients of all ages. Annually, approximately 5500 surgeries are performed in general surgery, orthopedics, urology, gynecology, obstetrics, and ear/nose/throat, as well as around 1500 consultative measures. The intensive care unit treats about 3100 patients per year, and we have a well-visited clinic where minor procedures are performed.

Due to the island's location, work in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is multifaceted. In the ICU, severely ill patients with serious medical conditions are cared for. We staff five places where our patients have an increased need for medical care, monitoring, and nursing, which is why the staff density in an ICU is higher than in a regular ward. On weekends and nights, the ICU also has a postoperative function. We receive various emergency alarms and are responsible for the hospital's MIG missions.

Our employees in the department are highly engaged, and our small size allows you to quickly create a network and build relationships, contributing to the good atmosphere within AnOpIVA.
