The Hospitals in the West is an administration within the Västra Götaland Region and consists of four hospitals – Alingsås Hospital, Angered Local Hospital, Högsbo Local Hospital, and Kungälv Hospital. Approximately 3000 employees work with us every day to provide good and safe specialized healthcare of the highest quality.

About the Department

The Intensive Care Unit at Alingsås Hospital is part of the An/Op/Iva operational area and one of two intensive care units within the Hospitals in the West.

We are a smaller unit with six beds for intensive and intermediate care. Our operations are high-tech and patient-centered, with short decision-making paths and well-functioning routines.

The facilities are modern and tailored to the operations, with single rooms for patients. About 60 intensive care nurses and nursing assistants work with us in close collaboration with anesthesiologists and other specialist doctors. The work environment is characterized by high competence, structure, and a good social community.

Job Responsibilities

You will care for patients with failing vital functions and be responsible for advanced monitoring and treatment, such as ventilator care, dialysis, and hemodynamic monitoring. You will participate in emergency interventions, including cardiac and airway alarms as well as MIG alarms within the hospital.

The work is done in teams with different professions, where collaboration and communication are central. You also have the opportunity to engage in responsibility groups that develop routines and working methods based on current research.

We offer regular training, scenario exercises, and A-CPR/A-CPR for children. With us, there are good opportunities to develop in your professional role and contribute to the development of the operations.

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is a licensed nurse with specialized training in intensive care. Previous work experience in intensive care is preferred.

You are confident in your professional role and can work structured and methodically even under stressful conditions. You adapt care to the patient and can make well-founded decisions. A professional and respectful approach towards patients, relatives, and colleagues is a given for you. You find it easy to collaborate in a team and communicate clearly, while also being self-driven when needed.

We appreciate an interest in development and improvement work, as our operations constantly strive to be at the forefront. You need to be flexible with the ability to adapt to a varying pace of work, as these are important qualities.

We offer an individually tailored introduction with mentor support. Scheduling is done individually in a 12-week plan, with work during all hours of the day.
