We are looking for someone with good knowledge of emerging technologies and/or critical raw materials who wants to work in our economic security team at the Unit for International Trade Policy and the EU Internal Market at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is responsible for a wide range of issues within Sweden's foreign and security policy, development cooperation, and international trade. The Unit for International Trade Policy and the EU Internal Market is the central function of the Government Offices for trade policy, international trade, investments, economic security, and issues concerning the EU internal market.

The position involves responsibility for issues related to emerging technologies and critical raw materials within the framework of the unit's work on economic security. The work involves preparing, developing, and promoting Sweden's interests in these areas, in close contact with political leadership and in consultation with other parts of the Government Offices, foreign missions, business, academia, and other countries. There is great variation in the work within a dynamic group focused on future issues in a context of transatlantic and other geo-economic matters. Business trips may occur.

Your Background

We are looking for someone with an academic degree in a relevant field and at least five years of work experience within the Government Offices, another government agency, the private sector, or equivalent. Experience in the field of emerging technologies and/or critical raw materials is an advantage.

Your Qualities

We place great emphasis on personal qualities and are looking for someone with strong analytical skills, excellent collaboration abilities, and a good capacity to create and maintain networks, both nationally and internationally. To thrive and fit into the role, you are service-oriented, driven, and accustomed to working with many points of contact and multiple parallel tracks in a sometimes very intense work situation. You are responsible and independent while demonstrating very good judgment and high integrity in your work. An interest in technology issues is essential.

Other Information

This is a fixed-term position for 1 year with a start date to be agreed upon, with a possibility of extension. The position is classified in a security class, and a security clearance with a background check will be conducted before a hiring decision is made. You must be a Swedish citizen.
