Part-time Assistant Needed for Personal Care

Kooperativet Hand i Hand is a member-driven organization established in 1995 for individuals entitled to assistance. Our members are located in Skåne, Halland, southern Småland, Västra Götaland, Stockholm, and Jämtland. We have offices in Halmstad, Hässleholm, and Malmö. We support our members with everything from applying for hours with Försäkringskassan/the municipality to personnel issues concerning personal assistants. We believe that the work of a personal assistant is one of the most important jobs there is, as it provides an opportunity for another person to live their life like everyone else.

We are looking for a part-time assistant for a 15-year-old boy with a muscle disease that affects his mobility. He is a social and smart teenager who enjoys video games, hanging out with friends, and living as normal a teenage life as possible.

As a personal assistant, you will support him in his daily life and be there when the regular staff is not working.

About the Position

Part-time employment with work as needed. If interested and by agreement, there is an opportunity for four fixed shifts per four-week period:

• Three evening shifts from 4:30 PM to 9:00 PM
• One night shift from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM

In addition, extra shifts may occur as needed, for example, in case of illness or leave. Opportunity for summer employment. Introduction and shadowing will be provided.

Job Responsibilities

As a personal assistant, you will help with:

• Personal care and hygiene
• Transfers and some training
• Practical support in daily life
• Assistance with gaming (e.g., pressing buttons)

Since the boy's voice is weak, it is important that you understand Swedish very well and are attentive in communication.

We are looking for someone who

• Is calm, secure, and patient
• Has an easy time reading others and adapting to them
• Has an interest in video or computer games
• Is non-smoking
• Takes into account that the boy is allergic to dogs
• Has a driver's license (requirement)
• Speaks and understands Swedish fluently

Previous experience in personal assistance is an advantage, but personal suitability is the most important.
