About the workplace
Surteskolan is undergoing a significant investment in its after-school activities - during the spring term, we need long-term substitutes to fill temporary vacancies.
Surteskolan is a F-6 school located just north of Gothenburg. The school is beautifully situated on a hill surrounded by forest and has about 220 students. What sets Surteskolan apart are our small classes of 17-23 students each and a small but cohesive team in the after-school program. The after-school program is organized into two departments but works as a united team. We are a small school and have close relationships. Educational staff, student health, administration, cleaning, and food services are in constant dialogue to find good solutions for our students.
Surteskolan is close enough to Gothenburg to be counted in zone A with Västtrafik. The commuter train takes you from the Central Station to Surte in 10 minutes.
Job Responsibilities
We are looking for someone with a strong commitment to developing a modern operation focused on continuously improving the quality of education. You will take on the responsibility as a leader for an operation that constantly needs to take the next step and develop together with its students.
The role in the after-school program combines care with pedagogy, and you will inspire students to explore, learn, and acquire new interests together with others in the after-school program. During school hours, you will work in the classroom and, depending on your qualifications, plan and conduct your own lessons. An important part of the role is communication with guardians regarding the after-school program, as well as challenges that arise, such as conflicts between students. As a teacher in the after-school program, you consciously work on your communication to ensure that everyone has a chance to succeed in the after-school setting.

Qualifications
We are looking for someone with experience and education in after-school programs. We welcome applicants with work experience from after-school programs and schools, but we are also curious about those with other experience and education in leadership or youth activities.
You have the ability to create safe relationships with students, colleagues, and guardians. With a positive attitude, you start from the student's ability to develop socially and academically and have close collaboration with other educators at the school.
You have clear communication, understand the importance of being a team player, and contribute with a positive spirit. You are flexible, proactive, and have a solution-oriented focus on the operation with the student's development and best interests in mind.
Great emphasis is placed on personal suitability.
